Job Description:

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Solid knowledge of routing protocols, network hardware and software, security technologies and network infrastructure are required.
  • Experience working with DOCSIS, ONU, CMTS, DAC, EC, Troubleshooting, Debugging and CPE (Customer Premise Equipment)

Responsibilities:

  • Network architects are in charge of effectively designing and reviewing network requirements and capabilities for their organization.
  • They are responsible for validating high-level design plans for optimal network implementation. Network architects must be organized individuals that pay strong attention to detail to prevent network issues and incompatibility.
  • They report their progress and escalate issues to the network administrator or supervisor in their department as needed.
  • One of their main tools includes a personal computer to verify network setting and security requirements by using specialized software to test security flaws and possible intruder doors.
  • Additionally, network architects verify network integrity by coordinating the installation and proper maintenance of hardware and software tools.
  • They provide technical support and guidance for complex wireless and local area networks.
  • One of their main functions includes managing client expectations by following strict standards and network protocols.
  • They implement new technologies for high-level designs and monitor performance based on specified project requirements.
  • Network architects also determine proper architecture required by the size of existing computer systems.
  • They also must maintain an accurate report to prevent future connectivity problems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolves escalated Access and CPE device field issues.
  • Performs assessments on existing technologies to determine performance and capacity gaps.
  • Establishes security, connectivity and access parameters.
  • Provides recommendations to optimize network infrastructure.
  • Tests and tunes security devices and systems.
  • Programs routers and switches. Implements communications technologies (data or voice).
  • Manages network services from planning phase through implementation.

Additional Skillsets being sought:

  • Advanced knowledge of DOCSIS and EPON standards

Working knowledge of CMTS platforms including:

  • Casa C100G
  • Arris E6000
  • Cisco cBR8
  • RPHY
  • Harmonic vCMTS and RPDs
  • Vecima RPDs

Working knowledge of EPON platforms including:

  • ADTRAN 95XX and SDX-6210
  • Vecima (Nokia) 7360 and Distributed Access Architecture SF-4x, SC-2D3

Working knowledge of switch platforms including:

  • Cisco NCS/ASR
  • Juniper PTX/QFX/ACX

Working knowledge of routing protocols including:

  • OSPF
  • ISIS
  • BGP
  • v4/v6 Multicast
  • Ability to write technical documentation
  • Ability to write and follow detailed technical test plans
  • CPE and ONU background in trouble shooting is highly desirable
  • Creative Network Trouble Shooting Skills.
