Detailed JD (Roles and Responsibilities)

  • Drives and facilitates the right discussions with business leaders to identify business capabilities in relation to current and future business objectives.
  • Creates and maintains business capability, data, process, and technology inventories in collaboration with Business and IT leaders, IT architects and other SME s and business analysts.
  • Collaborates with business and IT stakeholders across various business functions to collect and document the structure of the organization's business and technology landscape.
  • Takes charge of developing, constructing, overseeing, and refining the business capability model in conjunction with a maturity optimization framework to advance the implementation of the long-range roadmap.
  • Collaborates in the strategic planning process by offering enterprise insights and contributing to the scope of strategic initiatives.
  • This involves leveraging capabilities, generating capability maturity heatmaps to illuminate impacts, dependencies, overlaps, and opportunities for standardization and consolidation, thereby enhancing operational efficiency and effectiveness while optimizing costs.

Key deliverables include (but not limited to):

  • Capability Model, Capability Heatmaps, Capability Maturity Assessments, Capability Impact Assessments, Capability Health Assessments & Capability Roadmaps and providing leadership in planning of programs and projects in support of the roadmaps.
  • Works closely with business leaders and other business domain architects and leaders to develop organizational capability roadmaps.
  • In support of the business capability roadmaps, works closely with solution/technical architects to document current and future tools and technologies in support of the current and future business capabilities and investment options needed to support those transitions.
  • Works collaboratively with program and project managers, offering guidance and support for initiatives aimed at facilitating transitions in business capabilities.
  • Participates in, collaborates with and provides advice to project managers and solution architects to ensure that business project scope, deliverables and investments are relevant and enable and support the business capability needs.
  • Delivers recommendations in a clear and concise manner, emphasizing key points to effectively convey the intended message or purpose to diverse audiences.
  • This includes business executives, IT leaders, Enterprise Architects (and/or domain architects), as well as program and project sponsors as required.
  • Advocates for and drives adoption of "best practices" to ensure standardization of business architecture outputs across the enterprise.
  • Takes an active role in enterprise portfolio investment strategies by assessing and rationalizing proposed enterprise capabilities and always trying to optimize and maximize the investments made across the enterprise.
  • Demonstrates business thinking and is highly strategic to define practical solutions that align with corporate strategy.
  • Effectively manage priorities, deliverables, and timelines with confidence with minimal supervision.
  • Accountable for a specific Line of Business, or business pillar or multiple segments.
  • Senior specialist providing advisory services to executives and business leaders and governs the requirements for own work.
  • Integrates knowledge of the enterprise function's or business segment's overarching strategy in leading programs and projects within one or more areas of expertise.
  • Anticipates emerging business trends and regulatory/risk issues as a basis for recommending large-scale product, technical, functional, or operational changes.
  • Uses innovative thinking to propose and plan for new solutions.
  • Engages stakeholders to take action; provides expert advice, influences change; frames information in a broader organizational context.
  • Lead and direct high priority projects impacting three or more businesses or functions, or complex projects affective multiple businesses or functional areas, often requiring considerable resources and high levels of functional integration from initiation to close.
  • Ensure familiarity with scope and project objectives and establish clear roles and responsibilities for project team members. Projects may be of a technical and/or non-technical nature.
  • Develop Project Plan, forecast and schedule. Work with stakeholders to record detailed project requirements, constraints and assumptions to establish project deliverables, using requirement-gathering techniques (e.g. planning sessions, brainstorming, focus groups) and the project charter.
  • Ensure plans for assigned projects include work breakdown, project organization chart, cost/budget and communication, risk, quality and resource plans.
  • Communicate project plans to affected parties to ensure a common understanding, set expectations and align stakeholders and project team members.
  • Ensure execution of tasks defined in the project plan to achieve the project goals.
  • Execute all parts of the project plan and manage the budget/forecast. Monitor and control project work including change controls.
  • Measure project performance utilizing appropriate tools and techniques to monitor progress; identify and quantify variances, complete any required corrective actions, and communicate to all stakeholders.
  • Implement approved actions and workarounds required to mitigate project risk events.
  • Improve project team performance by building team cohesiveness, leading, mentoring, training and motivating to facilitate cooperation, ensure project efficiency and boost morale.
  • Must be familiar with system scope and project objectives, as well as the role and responsibility of each team member, to effectively coordinate team activities.
  • Understand and adhere to the Company s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
  • Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
  • Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
  • Complete other related duties as assigned.
