Senior Splunk Engineer Job Description:

Senior Splunk Consultant is responsible for delivering security professional advisory and technical consultant to meet requirements as dictated by client commitments. The individual in this role may be responsible for the security architecture and design supporting a client s existing and future security/operations services and may have the opportunity to fundamentally change the way a client s security services perform and integrate. Individuals with a proven track record in delivering technical advisory while operating independently will excel in this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Interfacing with the clients and other stakeholders in order to determine their (evolving) requirements
  • Coordinate requirements, based on the client s needs and other constraints such as cost and schedule
  • Ensuring that a robust implementation design will deliver the greatest value for client
  • Implement and document security solutions (many times Splunk products) to provide maximum client value
  • Generating deliverables such as sketches, user guides, status reports and general documentation
  • Has a consultative sales approach that can identify new opportunities by exploring client s business pains
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend security solutions for complex client problems
  • Assist troubleshooting of highly complex client issues to act as a high-level escalation point for clients and Engagement Managers
  • From time to time, assist in writing technical responses to RFP s & RFI s
  • To present technical concepts in an authoritative and clear manner to clients through demos, presentations and proposals
  • Provide coaching and guidance to clients from time to time

Qualifications:

  • Must have current Splunk certification(s); Enterprise Security Accreditation is a must, UBA additionally is preferred
  • 3+ years experience in security, security operations and/or network operations
  • 2+ years experience in architecting, implementing and tuning Splunk ES implementations, including Splunk Cloud
  • Experience with system security mechanisms and requirements
  • Knowledge of servers, applications, and various security/network services
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand, act as advisor
  • Bachelor s degree or equivalent experience in computer science or information security systems preferred
  • Ability to travel less than 5% in a year
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, strong team player who enjoys a fast-paced client environments
  • Ability to manage multiple conflicting priorities, commitments and projects
  • Ability to influence and drive consensus on multiple technical views
  • Self-motivated, directed and passionate, ability to learn very quickly in a dynamic environment

Knowledge, expertise:

  • Splunk implementations and advisory a must
  • Python programming language is preferred
  • Tenacious problem solver, will own issues until full resolution
  • A talent for exploring the prospects business pains and designing hosting solutions that fit
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal with great attention to detail
  • Strong rapport and relationship building skills with client internal resources
  • A high level of business awareness and commercial acumen
  • Ability to create wow / delighter moments with customers
  • Strong organizational, time management and prioritization skills
  • Able to take a creative approach to situations and problem solving
