We are looking for a seasoned Senior Database Administrator to enhance our team. This critical role will focus on delivering Infrastructure DBA support for SQL Server applications. Your expertise will be essential in upholding the integrity and performance of our databases, thereby ensuring seamless support for our intricate applications.

Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Database Administrator, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Providing 24⁄7 support for complex SQL Server applications.
  • Ensuring availability and disaster recovery in alignment with industry standards and best practices.
  • Collaborating on plans for system installation, patch management, maintenance, and upgrades for database systems.
  • Analyzing the implications of changes and emerging technologies, with recommendations for ongoing challenges.
  • Serving as a liaison between our agency and external consultants.
  • Implementing and enforcing database standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Monitoring and adjusting space allocation for databases in testing and development environments.
  • Estimating disk space requirements for both current and new installations based on organizational needs.
  • Adjusting DBMS parameters according to changes in capacity.
  • Conducting integrity checks for databases and monitoring their outcomes.
  • Installing database management software and applying updates in development and testing settings.
  • Supporting clustered database environments, backup operations, and replication.
  • Executing strategies for reclaiming unused space and addressing fragmentation issues.
  • Running scripts from Systems Analysts or Database Architects to create and modify database objects.
  • Monitoring backups to confirm recoverability and resolving backup-related errors.
  • Managing scheduled database jobs and processes, assisting in troubleshooting when necessary.
  • Utilizing alert logs, trace files, and other diagnostic tools to monitor database operations and connectivity.

Required Skills

Candidates should possess the following skills and experience:

  • Extensive experience in database administration, particularly with SQL Server 2016 and later versions.
  • Strong expertise in high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) solutions.
  • Proficiency in implementing Transparent Data Encryption within SQL Server.
  • Demonstrated experience in creating, updating, and maintaining system documentation.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in database administration is required.
  • Proven experience supporting SQL Server applications and environments.
