About This Role:

Under direct supervision, the Buyer Planner I plans the detailed daily production for assigned product lines and commodities as established by the Manager. Effectively plans and monitors all component requirements for assigned product lines.

Essential Job Functions/Tasks

  • Reviews the weekly production build rates as established by the Manager. Reviews open customer orders daily. Develops pro-active production schedules derived from target finished goods inventory levels and the current build plan.
  • Prepares detailed component schedules for assigned product lines. Interface directly with suppliers to ensure that supply matches demand. Enter Production Purchase Orders in a timely manner. Monitors delivery status and expedites orders when necessary, utilizing IQR and MRP messages. Resolves component quality issues and material rejections and replacements as required.
  • Interfaces directly with Customer Service to ensure the coverage of open orders. Monitors and communicates backorder status with Customer Service, Production, and the Planning Manager. Responsible for meeting with internal customers on a weekly basis to ensure excellent level of service.
  • Responsible for working closely with the Project Buyer and the Project Engineer in a support role to successfully launch new products on time and at budget.
  • Identifies profit improvement opportunities in Production Planning, develops and recommends programs to improve overall production efficiencies.
  • Reviews monthly production budgets for assigned product lines, prepares monthly summary reports.
  • Works with Inventory Control to monitor and fix inventory discrepancies.

Education/Training Required And Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree and APICS certification preferred.

Experience Required And Preferred

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a repetitive manufacturing environment.

What You Bring

  • Intermediate computer skills in JDEdwards, MS Office, and MS Project.
  • Supply chain management experience, with the ability to successfully match supply and demand for assigned products and commodities.
  • Must be familiar with commodity management strategies.
  • Strong negotiation skills must be able to resolve scheduling and sourcing conflicts within timelines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to interface with all levels of employees.

The hourly rate for this opportunity ranges from $26.50 to $36.00

The Company complies with all federal/local/state regulations in regard to pay. The above represents the expected hourly range for this job requisition. Compensation offered to the successful candidate will be determined by qualifications, prior experience, other job-related factors, and geographic location.
