The Engineering Manager will lead all design, product development, value engineering, continuous improvement, and quality assurance functions in a fast-growing, dynamic environment and direct all product design, including detailed manufacturing documentation. The Engineering Manager will lead and manage a team of engineers to create and oversee designs according to customer needs in a production environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Preparing and directing the preparation of detailed manufacturing drawings, inclusive of manufacturing tolerances and quality control callouts, and documentation for individual customer orders based on specific job requirements.
  • Designing and directing the design of improvements in products based on customer and marketing input.
  • Documentation and maintenance of complete bills of materials for products, including the development of a document management system.
  • Continuing development of the three-dimensional design system Autodesk to facilitate efficient documentation of individual custom order documentation and drawings.
  • Collaborate with both Manufacturing and Sales to help identify and develop new value-added features for existing Elgin products and new value-added technologies.
  • Identifying, qualifying, and interfacing with outsourced manufacturing facilities and equipment vendors globally.
  • Ensuring compliance with the company's quality assurance program and compliance with the implementation of company policies, procedures, plans, and objectives.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering preferred).
  • 10 years' experience designing mechanical equipment (5 years supervisory experience).
  • Expertise in designing large-scale mechanical machinery using three-dimensional software.
  • Highly computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office, and 3D Design (Autodesk).
  • Experience with the design of structural steel weldments and incorporation into assemblies. Knowledge of welding procedures for ferrous and alloy steels.
  • Ability to interact with clients, vendors, and shop floor manufacturing personnel to oversee manufacturing.
  • Availability for up to 10% travel.
