Kongsberg Defense & Aerospace Inc is seeking a full-time Software Engineer to work in the Mount Arlington, NJ office. The Software Engineer will support the development of the C4I software associated with the Kongsberg Defense products, including remote weapon system product line.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF JOB:

  • Significant software development experience including requirements analysis, design, development, implementation, integration, and test.
  • Practiced in a disciplined approach to Software Engineering.
  • Conduct software engineering activities in accordance with KONGSBERG management system.
  • Ability to use and understand agile development methodologies, Test Driven Development, and UML.
  • Ability to review and define requirements and apply thorough requirements analysis prior to implementation.
  • Design and implement software components based on the software architecture.
  • Proficient programming abilities primarily in C++, with experience in scripting, and application development in both Windows and VxWorks.
  • Test the software unit to remove errors and verify the software unit against requirements, confirming the design is accomplished.
  • Ability to design and execute thorough unit tests to be introduced into a regression test suite as part of development practice.
  • Support integration, formal system level test for qualification, deployment activities.
  • Follow the SCM guidelines to perform configuration management of software
  • Experience implementing mitigations to cyber security threats, within software used as part of Defence weapon systems, is desirable.
  • Assist in the establishment of the Kongsberg Software Support and Test Environment in Mt. Arlington, NJ.
  • Undertake in-country software support and software upgrades through system sustainment.


EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor s or Master s Degree in Computer Science or similar field required.


NUMBER OF YEARS AND TYPES OF EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Minimum 8 years' experience as a Software Engineer using C++
  • Experience in software development using middleware like OMG Distributed Data Service (DDS) or Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) such as VICTORY Standard, Computer Networks, integration or other related areas
  • Experience with software security


OTHER POSITION CONSIDERATIONS:

  • Must have or be able to obtain a US Passport.
  • Ability to travel, both internationally and domestically, as needed for purposes of installation, verification and demonstration of products.
  • Initial travel requirements include:
    • Required training in Norway; estimated to be 3 months of total travel time to Norway during first year.
    • Trips will range from 2 weeks to 1 month in duration
  • Must be able to work as part of a team; positive can-do attitude.
  • Flexible in ability to change priorities in order to accomplish changing team/corporate deadlines and goals.
