Job Description:

Interview Process: Virtual Interview via MS Teams with 2nd round interviews being held IN PERSON at the Dimondale, MI office.

Duration: 1 year with possible extension.
Candidates must be currently local within a commutable distance, no more than 1-1.5 hours. Client is not interested in candidates who would need to relocate to accept the role. Position will be hybrid, in office 2 days a week upon start. No remote only option.

Senior Network Security Engineer

Position Overview: We are looking for a Senior Network Security Engineer to join the MiSOC Security Operations Team. This role is crucial in ensuring the security of our network infrastructure, focusing on reviewing and remediating cyber incidents and vulnerabilities to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of State of Michigan data.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and validate network security procedures to effectively identify and classify cyber events.
  • Investigate and resolve issues with security operations tools promptly.
  • Oversee the specification and implementation of security hardware and software.
  • Administer proxy servers and endpoint detection and response systems.
  • Manage intrusion protection and detection systems to bolster network security.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to internal stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT security or network engineering.
  • Proficient in Linux, Windows, and Unix operating systems.
  • Experience with enterprise packet capture tools.
  • Familiarity with Enterprise Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS/IDS).
  • Skilled in configuring, deploying, and managing security network tools and hardware.
  • Knowledge of network tap administration.
  • Ability to engineer security rules and apply best practices.
  • Experience with threat intelligence feed integrations and subnetting.
