Job Title: Server Upgrade Engineer
Location: Canada Any
Employment Type: Contract (6 months)
Reports To: IT Infrastructure Manager

Job Summary:
We are seeking a Server Upgrade Engineer to oversee and drive the upgrade of approximately 150 Microsoft servers across our organization. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in Microsoft server technologies and project management skills to ensure the successful and timely completion of the server upgrade project while minimizing disruptions.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Management:

Develop and implement a comprehensive project plan, including timelines, resource allocation, and risk management strategies.
Monitor project progress and make adjustments as needed to meet deadlines and objectives.
Coordinate with stakeholders such as IT teams, application owners, and business units to ensure alignment and support.
Manage project budget and track expenditures for cost-effective implementation.
Server Upgrade Planning and Implementation:

Assess the current server infrastructure and determine upgrade requirements.
Create detailed upgrade procedures, including data migration strategies and testing plans.
Follow IT change control processes to implement the server upgrade project according to schedule.
Team Coordination:

Collaborate with server owners and IT management on server upgrade activities.
Provide guidance and support to team members as needed.
Ensure adherence to best practices and standards for server upgrades.
Risk Management:

Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.
Implement contingency plans to address unexpected challenges.
Communication:

Regularly communicate project status and progress to stakeholders.
Address concerns or issues promptly.
Provide clear and concise reporting on project outcomes.
Qualifications and Experience:

Proven experience in project management, with a focus on IT infrastructure projects.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft server technologies (Windows Server 2003, 2008, 2012 through 2022) and core Microsoft software (Active Directory, File Server, SQL Server, etc.).
Solid understanding of physical and virtual networking.
Experience with scripting (PowerShell) and automation.
Familiarity with server hardware and software upgrades.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
Bachelor s degree in Electronics/Computer Science or equivalent.
PMP certification or equivalent is preferred.
Job Type: Fixed term contract

Pay: From $40.00 per hour
