Description:
We are seeking a Construction Site Coordinator with extensive field construction management experience and a strong technical background. This role requires candidates to be local to northern or central New Jersey, willing to travel across JCP&L territory, and prepared for occasional overnight travel. The ideal candidate will possess experience in managing construction activities, ideally within the utility sector, and be proficient in Microsoft Office for project documentation and presentations.

Responsibilities:

  • Promote a safety-first culture, demonstrating a commitment to high standards of safety and human performance principles.
  • Oversee and coordinate pre-construction, construction, and post-construction activities for substation and line projects, both independently for smaller projects and with support for larger ones.
  • Understand project scope, scheduling, and cost management, including CPM calculations, float, and predecessors.
  • Manage construction activities, proactively tracking progress, and report on schedule status.
  • Collaborate with project teams to prepare contractor bid packages, assist with pre-bid meetings, and follow up on action items.
  • Conduct constructability reviews, assist with site walkdowns, and coordinate materials and resources for project needs.
  • Oversee site-specific tasks such as staking structures, vegetation, and wetland management, while understanding the cost implications.
  • Ensure compliance with quality and safety standards across all aspects of construction.
  • Conduct inspections to ensure contractor work aligns with design and construction standards.
  • Identify and manage risks associated with transmission construction projects, implementing a construction risk management plan.
  • Document site meetings, maintain digital/printed red-line drawings, and participate in evaluations, reviews, and Lessons Learned sessions.
  • Uphold ethics standards and consistently apply them in working with all stakeholders.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in Construction Management or a related technical field; or 4 years of experience in commercial/industrial construction in lieu of a degree.
  • Preferred experience in electrical substation or line construction.
  • Proven skills in teamwork and problem-solving, with an ability to handle compliance issues effectively.
  • Strong understanding of construction drawings, blueprints, and Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Self-motivated, customer-focused, and results-oriented.
  • OSHA 10 Certification required.
  • Must have a personal vehicle, valid drivers license, and ability to pass MVR screening.
