PRISM seeks a detail-oriented 508 Tester with a Trusted Tester Certification to join our team. The ideal candidate will understand Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act and its accessibility requirements. They will ensure that our digital products and services are accessible to people with disabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough 508 testing: Evaluate digital products and services for compliance with Section 508 standards.
  • Identify accessibility issues: Accurately pinpoint accessibility barriers, such as broken links, missing alt text, and low-contrast text.
  • Create detailed test reports: Document test findings, including specific accessibility violations and recommendations for remediation.
  • Collaborate with development teams: Work closely with developers and designers to implement necessary changes to improve accessibility.
  • Stay updated on accessibility standards: Maintain knowledge of the latest Section 508 guidelines and emerging accessibility trends.
  • Utilize assistive technology: Employ various assistive technologies, such as screen readers and speech-to-text software, to simulate the experience of users with disabilities.
  • Contribute to accessibility best practices: Share expertise and insights to help improve the accessibility of our products and services.

Qualifications

  • Active DOD Secret Clearance
  • Bachelors and 5 years of 508 Testing
  • Trusted Tester Certification: Possess a valid Trusted Tester Certification.
  • Strong understanding of Section 508: Have a deep knowledge of Section 508 requirements and best practices.
  • Technical proficiency: Be familiar with accessibility testing tools and techniques.
  • Attention to detail: Have a meticulous approach to testing and documentation.
  • Excellent communication skills: Be able to effectively communicate test results and recommendations to technical and non-technical teams.
  • Problem-solving skills: Have the ability to identify and resolve complex accessibility issues.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience testing web applications, mobile apps, and digital documents.
  • Familiarity with WCAG 2.1 success criteria.
  • Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
