Firewall Specialist

UNIVERSAL Technologies is seeking a Firewall Specialist with experience in Palo Alto and Cisco firewalls for a hybrid role in Brooklyn, NY. Candidates must have an active LinkedIn account.

Position: The Firewall Specialist will assist with the design, deployment, and maintenance of firewall security solutions in a large, complex networked environment. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in firewall technology, network security, and infrastructure, with a deep understanding of protocols and routing for critical infrastructure. This role requires collaboration with infrastructure management leadership, engineering, architecture, and data center teams to implement secure, resilient solutions.

SCOPE OF SERVICES:
The Firewall Specialist will focus on firewall and network security, including Next-Gen Firewall, routing, and defensive security. Tasks include:

• Participating in design meetings and providing security and network insight on priority projects.
• Proposing network security architectures that align with business requirements and best practices.
• Collaborating with architecture teams to develop solutions that meet citywide needs.
• Installing and configuring new network or firewall devices.
• Configuring ports, firewalls, and applying base templates for integration into production networks.
• Developing and validating base configurations for firewalls.
• Replacing firewalls and updating firewall rules according to established procedures.

MANDATORY SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
Note: Candidates who do not have the mandatory skills will not be considered.

• Minimum 12 years of experience in networking, network security, and firewalls .
• Hands-on experience with Palo Alto firewall technology.
• Deep understanding of DNS, NTP, BGP, and other critical infrastructure protocols.
• Knowledge of BGP, MPLS, OSPF, IS-IS routing protocols in a large environment.
• Proficiency in routing, load balancing, and networking infrastructure.

DESIRABLE SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

• Hands-on experience in Cisco and Palo Alto firewall technology.
• Additional experience in load balancing.
• Strong project management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
