Job Summary:

The Manufacturing Technician III maintains the production machinery in proper operating order through preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, complex repair and improvement activities. The Technician will need to have all certifications of a Manufacturing Technician II in addition be capable (at times asked) to perform the functions of an operator. The Technician III will have demonstrated knowledge between 20-30% of SOPs within a specific manufacturing process.

Essential Duties:
  • Check settings, gauge readings, and sensors regularly to keep machines operating at proper specifications
  • Perform mechanical maintenance with frequent electrical (480V, 208V, 120V, 24VDC) and controls related troubleshooting
  • Dismantle machines or equipment using hand tools or power tools to examine parts for defects and repairs or replaces those parts
  • Tighten bolts and inspects belts and chains for wear and tear for proper tensions
  • Perform more complex cleaning activities of equipment where tear down is required
  • Advance troubleshooting with equipment & machinery
  • Thorough understanding of maintenance troubleshooting for electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic manufacturing equipment
  • Confer with machine operators to determine the nature of the problem
  • Inspect the external parts of the machine for any jams, breakage, and abnormal vibrations that may be causing the problem
  • Inspect the internal components of the machine by the disassembly of certain machinery parts
  • Examine the form, texture, and dimensions of the machine parts to detect wear and/or imperfections
  • Restore machines to correct operating function
  • Make the needed mechanical and pneumatic adjustments
  • Diagnose problems, replace, or repair parts, test and perform any necessary adjustments
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment in performing duties
  • Detect faulty operations, defective material, and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision
  • Analyze the down time and quality deficiencies for the line and reports any information, along with suggestions for improvement, to the Lead or Supervisor and the appropriate management personnel
  • Make suggestions for and helps develop and implement modifications to the machines and process in-order to help increase the efficiency and production of the department
  • Influence operators on how to complete minor repairs and adjustments to the machines
  • Assists with training of other Manufacturing Technicians as appropriate
  • Maintain complete and accurate records of all work done on the equipment and machines
  • Perform special duties as assigned by Maintenance Lead or Supervisor


Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements:
  • To ensure the health and safety in the workplace and for the protection of our employees, wearing PPE is a possibility and may include equipment such as a full Tyvek suit, safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, bump cap, and a full hazmat suit that includes a respirator.

Qualifications: Requirements - Required and/or Preferred

Education:
  • Basic: High School Diploma or GED
  • Preferred: Associates degree in Electronic Technology or equivalent experience


Essential Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5+ years of manufacturing experience with in depth understanding of manufacturing equipment programming, maintenance and repair
  • Minimum of 3+ years of electrical maintenance experience
  • Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with troubleshooting PLC based control systems desired
  • Strong background in electrical troubleshooting highly recommended
  • Welding and fabrication skills considered a plus
  • Strong in Data Analysis to identify issues and implement countermeasure immediately followed by permanent corrective action
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing and six sigma methodologies through application
  • Experience with troubleshooting PLC based control systems desired.
