*This role is exclusively on-site, requiring daily commutes to the office. Therefore, candidates must reside in the Detroit/Metro-Detroit area before employment*

The Detroit Land Bank Authority works directly with individual buyers, as well as Community Partner organizations and developers for projects big and small.

The Data Analyst will work closely with the internal teams to manage geocoded survey data from mobile applications, integrate survey data into Salesforce and other platforms, troubleshoot errors with survey and platform integration efforts, and maintain a database of survey results to assist with visualizations. In addition, employees in this role will assist with running quality checks on survey data and triaging properties into appropriate pipelines.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Communicate with in-house surveyors and vendors to determine surveying routes and timelines
  • Manage a database of privately-owned properties
  • Work closely with internal teams to transfer data between platforms
  • Assign, track and report on movement of properties through non-DLBA pipelines
  • Maintain relationships with other departments and city partners and develop communication processes
  • Identify and define data requirements
  • Provide technical oversight for integrating new technology or new initiatives into data standards and structures
  • Evaluate the design, selection, implementation and support of database changes
  • Ensure quality data collection techniques are established for those inputting data and monitor data entry procedures
  • Identify and implement processes, data, and reporting improvements
  • Troubleshoot data-related problems/discrepancies on an on-going basis and modify accordingly
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with the team
  • Extract, load, model, and reconcile large amounts of data across multiple system platforms and sources
  • Review data to determine operational impacts and needed actions; elevate issues, trends, areas for improvement and opportunities to management
  • Build systems and dashboards for reporting on survey data and other information as assigned
  • Use a variety of data-visualization techniques to share survey results with external stakeholders
  • Ensure data integrity by performing data quality audits and analysis
  • Conduct routine quality checks of a high volume of inspections results and triage properties to appropriate partners and pipelines
  • Occasionally assist with surveying efforts outside of the office
  • Comply with all state, federal, and company guidelines, rules and regulations
  • Perform other related duties as directed by the Neighborhood Survey Manager and Assistant Manager

QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Experience, Skills And Abilities)

  • Strong organizational, analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong system and data analysis background
  • Knowledge of Salesforce database, strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online, strongly preferred
  • Ability to communicate clearly
  • Proven track record of working in a highly dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency with the following software: Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook), Adobe version 10 or greater
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Studies, Geography, Statistics, Urban Planning or a related field
  • At least three (3) years’ experience designing, developing and generating reports from a relational database application. Database design, deployment and management experience is highly desirable.
  • Solid understanding of the principles of database management and business process workflow
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively to accomplish responsibilities, goals and projects
  • Ability to organize work to meet deadlines and work independently
  • Ability to troubleshoot hardware and software problems is highly desirable.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work with both technical and non-technical users
