Role Summary:

We are seeking a Sr. Power Systems Engineer who shall be responsible for performing generation and load interconnection studies along with transmission planning studies projects across multiple ISOs/RTOs and/or Utilities in the Eastern Interconnect (MISO, PJM, SPP, NYISO, ISO-NE, SERC, etc.), Western Interconnect (CAISO, etc.) and ERCOT. In this role you will work closely with our internal team to provide subject matter expertise across a wide number of interconnection and transmission planning related Customer projects.

Job Responsibilities:

Stay up-to-date with the latest study methodologies, processes, and best practices followed by ISOs/RTOs and/or Utilities in the Eastern Interconnect (MISO, PJM, SPP, NYISO, ISO-NE, SERC, etc.), Western Interconnect (CAISO, etc.), and ERCOT for performing interconnection and transmission planning studies.

Perform generation interconnection, load interconnection, and transmission planning studies (primarily focusing on the steady state analysis such as Powerflow, Contingency Analysis, etc.) across multiple ISOs/RTOs and/or Utilities in the Eastern Interconnect, Western Interconnect, and ERCOT along with preparation of detailed technical study reports.

Work closely with the team to provide subject matter expertise across a wide number of Customer projects involving generation interconnection, load interconnection, and transmission planning studies.

Provide technical insight on software w.r.t. interconnection and transmission planning and provide innovative solutions to challenging technical problems.

Provide technical insight to Customers throughout the development, interconnection, and operation phases of new generation and/or large load projects.

Interact with Customers to seek their inputs and address their needs and concerns regarding the project(s) under study.

Travel to Customer locations at a minimum of 10% of the time to fulfill onsite duties.

Take responsibility for the timely completion of assigned projects while meeting all project quality and budget objectives.

Participate in industry conferences and technical workshops.

Educational Qualification Requirements:

Master's or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering with focus on Power Systems Engineering.

Technical Experience Requirements:

Minimum of 3+ years of hands-on experience in the electric transmission industry performing generator modelling, interconnection and transmission planning studies.

In-depth knowledge of the different study methodologies and best practices followed by ISOs/RTOs and/or Utilities in the Eastern Interconnect, Western Interconnect, and ERCOT for performing interconnection and transmission planning studies.

Proven track record of successfully delivering generator interconnection, load interconnection or transmission planning projects across multiple ISOs/RTOs and/or Utilities in the Eastern Interconnect (MISO, PJM, SPP, NYISO, ISO-NE, SERC, etc.), Western Interconnect (CAISO, etc.), and ERCOT.

Strong background in Steady State Power System Analysis (e.g.- Powerflow, Contingency Analysis, etc.). Having good knowledge of Short Circuit Analysis and Stability Analysis would be looked upon favorably.

In-depth working knowledge of at least one but preferably several conventional planning software packages such as PSSE, TARA, PSLF, PowerWorld, etc.

Working experience in study automation processes (e.g.- using Python scripts, etc.).

Fast learner willing to learn the complete portfolio and offerings.
