The Position
Environmental Scientists perform program research, planning and development, permitting, compliance monitoring, inspections/enforcement, and technical support services in relation to air, water, waste, federal facilities, corrective action, mining, biology and other environmental programs.
Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation.
This position is for the Major Source Compliance Branch within the Bureau of Air Pollution Control. This position will entail field work, including facility inspections, investigations, and stack test observations. This Position will also have in office responsibilities, including report reviews, assisting the permitting and enforcement branches as needed, and drafting orders. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Qualifications
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in the physical, natural resource or life sciences, engineering or closely related field; OR graduation from high school or equivalent and two years of technical environmental experience which involved assisting in environmental program research and planning; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Requirements A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview.
