Performs tasks related to the manufacturing and distribution (as needed) duties for the management of whole blood and blood components, in compliance with OneBlood standard operating procedures.

Position Schedule This is a full-time position that will work 300 PM - 1130 PM Sunday to Thursday. Flexibility is required.

Training Schedule Candidate must be available to attend training Monday through Friday 730am to 400pm for a period of 3-4 weeks

(Based upon when hours are worked positions may include a shift and weekend differential of $1.50 - $4.50 per hour.)

  • Manufactures, stores and distributes blood and blood products
  • Performs data entry associated with component production, labeling, storage and shipping ensuring accurate and complete manufacturing records
  • Operates, maintains and performs quality control checks on equipment
  • Ensures suitability and accurate labeling of products for release and distribution
  • Performs the quarantine and disposition of unacceptable products and/or samples
  • Ensures adequate inventory of required supplies
  • Prepares and submits quality control samples for testing.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

High School diploma or equivalent. Prior laboratory, bloodbank manufacturing or logistics experience preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Tasks involve the periodic performance of moderately physically demanding work, usually involving lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (up to 50 pounds). Tasks that require moving objects of significant weight require the assistance of another person and/or use of proper techniques and moving equipment. Tasks may involve some climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.

ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee may encounter while performing the essential functions of this job.

Functions are regularly performed inside and/or outside with potential for exposure to adverse conditions, such as inclement weather, atmospheric elements and pathogenic substances. Performance of this job could expose the employee to blood-borne pathogens and freezers at below-freezing temperatures (-30F/-35C). The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Performs phlebotomy and collection procedures and processes related to the collection of whole blood (and/or blood components) from donors according to the organization’s policies and procedures, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, and American Association of Blood Banks (AABB) standards.

  • Obtains medical history and vitals from donors and/or patients
  • Performs phlebotomy and collection procedures to collect blood or blood components
  • Displays excellent customer service and professionalism towards all customers
  • Assists with the recruitment of potential apheresis, and bone marrow donors.

Vibration and motion are common on mobile unit buses. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
