Job Description: The Machine Operator/Landscaper will be responsible for maintaining the shooting range using a variety of machinery and landscaping techniques. The primary responsibilities include operating a skid steer (with a forestry mulcher attachment) and preferably a backhoe, handling the delivery of ammunition and targets, and performing general landscaping duties to ensure the range is in top condition.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate a skid steer with a forestry mulching attachment (gyro) for range maintenance.
  • Operate a backhoe for various tasks around the shooting range (preferred).
  • Receive and handle deliveries of ammunition and targets by the pallet.
  • Perform general landscaping duties, including mowing, trimming, planting, and maintaining plant beds.
  • Implement weed control measures and maintain overall cleanliness and aesthetics of the range.
  • Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of machinery to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned to support the overall operations of the shooting range.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Proven experience operating a skid steer and preferably a backhoe.
  • Familiarity with forestry mulching attachments is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of landscaping techniques and equipment.
  • Ability to handle heavy lifting and physical tasks associated with landscaping and machinery operation.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a safe and clean environment.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work well within a team.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification in heavy machinery operation.
  • Previous experience in a similar role within a shooting range or related environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and move pallets of ammunition and targets.
  • Capability to perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions.
  • Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and operating machinery.
  • CPR and AED certifications will be required but can be obtained after hire.
