Job Summary:
The Senior Design Engineer is responsible for performing engineering design tasks independently and with ongoing supervision. They receive technical guidance on new design topics that they have not previously encountered. Additionally, they work closely with senior engineers on typical engineering assignments that are unfamiliar to them.
Job Duties:
  • Applies technical knowledge to designs and ensures projects meet specifications
  • Shares information with team as well as question internal and external Stakeholders to appreciate the design requirements and nuances of tasks
  • Communicates challenges regarding scope, cost, schedule, and quality
  • Works with Designers and Drafters to complete design packages
  • Supports the preparation of simple and medium designs or small portions of larger projects, including calculations and drawings
  • Leads the development of their discipline's design on simple projects, and supports complex projects, including moderate difficulty technical analyses
  • Understands and applies appropriate industry codes, standards, and regulations
  • Identifies information to be communicated to the client and project stakeholders through team leads and project managers.
  • Conducts communications in a professional and clear manner; communications are timely and in an appropriate format for the topic.
  • Supports team interactions with Clients and vendors
  • Assists the Design Coordinator evaluate design personnel and assigns design related tasks to Designers and Drafters via the Design Coordinator

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor s degree in engineering from ABET accredited university and 2-3 years of relevant industry experience
  • Knowledge of Computer Aided Design or GIS Design is a plus
  • Strong work ethic with desire to work in a production environment
  • Working knowledge of basic software programs such as Microsoft Office and ArcGIS
  • Skill to use hand-eye coordination, visual (near) acuity and depth perception.
  • Skill to use effective verbal and listening communications.
