Tech Lab Instructor
As a Tech Lab Instructor, you will facilitate engaging learning experiences for adult learners, leading them toward certification in Front End Web Development, CompTIA+, and the Google IT Support Professional Certificate. Your expertise as a knowledgeable programmer or instructor will be crucial in implementing the Tech Lab curriculum, creating a detailed syllabus, and curating relevant external content.
This rewarding position is full-time, paying $50,000 per year. Each cohort will contain no more than 25 students. Front End Web Development = 15-week cohort; CompTIA+ = 100-hour cohort; Google IT Support Professional Certificate = TA provided in coordination with Tech Lab Supervisor.
Tech Lab Instructor Essential Job Functions:
  • Design and develop a high-quality syllabus that covers current concepts in Frontend Web Development and CompTIA+.
  • Collaborate with the Tech Lab Supervisor and program consultant to establish learning outcomes and enhance the learner experience.
  • Break down technical concepts into digestible units and modules using effective pedagogical techniques.
  • Curate external materials to supplement the Frontend curriculum in coordination with the Tech Lab Supervisor.
  • Work with the team to create high-quality projects that enhance students' portfolios.
  • Propose updates to existing materials to ensure alignment with current standards in Frontend Development and CompTIA+.
  • Gain familiarity with the Google IT Support Professional Certificate program to assist students effectively.
  • Facilitate scheduled classes utilizing the Front End Web Development and CompTIA+ curricula.
Lab Tech Instructor Requirements:
  • Bachelor s degree or equivalent professional IT experience and certifications.
  • Minimum of five years in the IT field; instructional experience is preferred.
  • CompTIA+ Certified or additional IT-related certifications.
  • Professional experience as a Frontend or Full-Stack developer.
  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and foundational computer skills.
  • Familiarity with libraries such as Bootstrap and Material UI.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to document and interact effectively with staff and participants.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Current Illinois driver s license and valid vehicle insurance.
