Position Summary: The System Administrator II is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware, software, and related infrastructure. This role leads and participates in technical research and development to enable continuous innovation in keeping pace with business requirements. Provide leadership and coordination with outsourcing partners in systems innovation and troubleshooting. The System Administrator II serves to address escalated issues from the System Administrator I. This position reports to the IT Infrastructure Team Lead.

Responsibilities Include, but are not limited to:

  • Engineering of systems-related solutions for various project and operational needs. Includes the definition of needs, benefits, and technical strategy in partnership with senior IT leadership.
  • Install new and rebuild existing services and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
  • Identify, install, and maintain solutions that ensure the protection of company data. Maintain and grow back-up and recovery solutions that are tested quarterly for operation viability. Ensure that all required file system and data are successfully backed up and sent off site as prescribed.
  • Provide hands-on desktop support to business areas.
  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs, such as backups.
  • Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions.
  • Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies
  • Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure and add new services as necessary.
  • Create, change, and delete user accounts per request.
  • Provide support per request from various constituencies. Investigate and troubleshoot issues. Respond to IT Helpdesk requests in a timely manner and ensure that tickets are thoroughly updated.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of system assets and provide reporting upon request.
  • Maintain operation, configuration and other procedures.
  • Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning.
  • Perform ongoing performing tuning, hardware updates, and resource optimization as required. Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required.
  • Maintain data center environmental and monitoring equipment.
  • Ensure up-to-date tracking of system licenses, pending renewals, out-of-life equipment, etc. Provide timely notice of action required and/or recommendation.
  • Participate in IT on-call rotation. Off hours and weekend project work may be required.

Education and Experience:

  • Two-year technical degree desired with a focus in computer science or engineering.
  • Two to four years of system administration experience required.
  • General networking skills required.
  • Experience with mobile device management tools (i.e. MobileIron, Soti, etc.).
  • Experience with cyber security management and monitoring tools (i.e. Arctic Wolf, Cybereason)
  • Systems Administration/Systems Engineer certification in Microsoft and/or VMW are desired.
  • Experience with the establishment/management of systems back-up and recovery tools required (i.e. Veeam, Zerto). Experience with DraaS a plus.
  • Experience within ca manufacturing or logistics environment desired.
  • Hands-on experience with mobile devices desired.
  • File storage and maintenance experience required.
  • Experience maintaining a Microsoft Dynamics infrastructure a plus.
  • Knowledge and experience working with IT ticketing systems for change and problem tracking required.
