PRIMECH Recruiting is partnered with a leading Ohio mechanical contractor specializing in commercial plumbing and HVAC projects. We are seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join their team and contribute to our continued success.
Position Overview: The Senior Estimator will be responsible for accurately estimating the costs of commercial plumbing and HVAC projects. This role requires a deep understanding of plumbing systems, HVAC systems, and the ability to use various estimation software tools. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 8 years of experience as an estimator for a mechanical contractor and will be proficient in Quickpen, Excel, Estimation, or similar onscreen software.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop detailed and accurate cost estimates for commercial plumbing and HVAC projects, including labor, materials, and overhead.
- Analyze blueprints, specifications, and other project documents to determine project scope and requirements.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to gather information and clarify project details.
- Prepare and present comprehensive bid proposals and cost estimates to clients.
- Review and verify bid proposals from subcontractors and suppliers for accuracy and completeness.
- Monitor project costs and budgets throughout the construction process, making adjustments as necessary.
- Provide expert advice and support during project planning, bidding, and negotiation phases.
- Stay updated on industry trends, construction costs, and new technologies related to plumbing and HVAC systems.
- Mentor and train junior estimators and support staff as needed.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 8 years of experience as an estimator in a mechanical contracting environment, with a strong focus on commercial plumbing and HVAC projects.
- Extensive knowledge of plumbing systems, HVAC systems, and related mechanical trades.
- Proficiency in estimation software such as Quickpen, Estimation, and Excel.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with team members and clients.
- Proven track record of successfully managing estimates for complex commercial projects.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Relevant certifications or professional memberships in the estimating or mechanical contracting field are a plus.
Education:
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management in lieu of related trade field experience.
- Relevant industry certifications or additional training in estimating are advantageous.
