Starting range $65+/hr, DOE
JOB SUMMARY
Plans, directs and coordinates activities of designated technical and business projects, to ensure that goals are accomplished within the prescribed time frame and funding parameters. Develops, manages and coordinates project plans of different degrees of complexity. Specifies work breakdown, scheduling, budget, identification of risks, contingency plans and allotment of resources for each phase of the project.
JOB DUTIES
- Manages projects consistent with ERCOT Corporate Standards, Operating Procedures, and department processes.
- Manages project scope, schedule, budget, risk / issue, change controls, phase gating and general project administration.
- Promotes a culture of early risk mitigation and accountability and incorporates relevant techniques into the project plan and management.
- Understands project success criteria and provides guidance and consultation to the project delivery structure to meet those objectives.
- Develops project plans specifying milestones, tasks, start/end durations and resource allocations for each phase of the project.
- Manages the work of the project team to ensure that accountable personnel complete project activities on time and within budget, while ensuring the high priority items stay on track.
- Manages vendor activities to ensure alignment to the Statement of Work.
- Leads and coordinates cross-functional teams responsible for all aspects of a project, promoting teamwork, collaboration, and candid conversation.
- Monitors metrics to track team performance against schedule expectations and budget.
- Proactively and effectively communicates project status, risks, and issues to management, project owners, and others.
- Demonstrates strong written and verbal communication skills and applies good judgement for escalation.
- Demonstrates accountability for the results of the team.
- Creates and maintains project schedules using Microsoft Project Online.
- Leverages Microsoft Project Online and Power BI for project reporting.

- Engages with senior management and executives as needed.
- Skilled at project planning in a resource-matrixed enterprise.
- Manages highest complexity projects with a high level of autonomy.
- Maintains a strong understanding of the business and systems for the area of specialization.
- Effectively leads and facilitates resolution on complex project issues.
- Effectively leads and facilitates organizational change management.
- May provide recommendations regarding issues outside the bounds of defined procedures and practices.
- May oversee project assignments, work schedules, training, mentoring, and coaching for other employees.
- May support onboard and readiness activities for new Project Managers.
- May lead Project Management Office improvement initiatives.
- Demonstrates excellent ability to forecast project resources required for successful planning and execution of very large complex projects.
- Leads conversations with executives and project sponsors.
EXPERIENCE
- Requires minimum 8 years related work experience in excess of degree requirements
- Requires minimum 6 years as Project Manager on large-scale projects
- Project schedule creation and maintenance using Microsoft Project Online or Project Server
- Project reporting using Microsoft Project Online and Power BI
- Minimum 2 years in a program manager role (preferred)
- Task assignment and tracking using JIRA (preferred)
- Detailed understanding of the ERCOT energy, market, and utility business (preferred)
- Software project management experience
- Must have: Waterfall experience
- Preferred: Electrical market experience
EDUCATION
- Bachelor's Degree: Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field (Required)
- Master's Degree: Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field (Preferred)
- Or a combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge to a major in such fields is required
CERTIFICATION
- PMP Project Management Professional (Highly Preferred)
- PgMP Program Management Professional (Preferred)
- PMI-ACP Agile Certified Professional (preferred)
- CSM Certified Scum Master (preferred)
