JOB SUMMARY

McKenney s is looking to hire individuals who are detail-oriented and passionate to solve challenging problems in various market segments from healthcare to mission-critical, life sciences, office, and hospitality.
Estimators will work in a team setting to develop accurate, constructible, and timely HVAC estimates while meeting McKenney s estimating standards. You will be responsible for reviewing project specifications, performing take-offs, and developing trade-specific estimates to be used in the overall project estimates and proposals. You will have the unique opportunity to become familiar with all HVAC estimates across a wide variety of project types, as well as playing a key part in improving estimating tools, interfacing with project teams, and supporting change and progress as a member of a dynamic, growing company.
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION
- Accurately and efficiently perform material and labor take-offs in compliance with McKenney s fabrication standards, project plans, project specifications, and code requirements.
- Effectively and proactively communicate with project managers, project engineers, field Foremen, estimators, and sales engineers during the bid process and throughout construction.
- Proactively identify and communicate areas of deficiency/gaps/safety risks along with proposed solutions and estimates to support the timely completion of proposals.
- Source and qualify material and subcontractor bids in adherence to project documentation.
- Become an expert on FastPipe, EstMEP, and McKenney s Estimator and use these tools to prepare timely estimates accurately.
- Use computer skills, knowledge, and experience to facilitate constant improvement of estimating systems, processes, and bid accuracy.
- Work with the Manufacturing teams to proactively update productivity metrics, understand new/existing capabilities, and overall seek areas of improvements in the design/build workflow.
- Identify typical estimating assemblies/modules and facilitate their usage in estimates.
- Lead effort to update material and labor pricing in estimating systems.
- Develop and support budgeting tools for pipe, duct, plumbing, and controls.
- Attend job review meetings to obtain feedback on closed-won projects.
- Actively pursue self-development of skills as it relates to the duties of this job position.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or Building Construction Management or an HS diploma with at least 5 years of construction supervisory experience in the mechanical trades.
- Must have general PC experience in Windows environments, working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook), Web-enabled applications, and database software. Must have intermediate-level experience with Excel.
- Exceptional time management, multitasking, communication, and interpersonal skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Working towards a Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management degree or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years working in the Piping or Plumbing trades.
- Experience with MEP estimating software.
- Experience with FastPipe and or EstMEP.
- Experience using Revit 2019 or AutoCAD.
- Master or Journeyman Plumber s license.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT
- Work involves moderate exposure to elements, such as hot/cold temperatures, dirt, dust, and/or loud noises.
- The work environment involves some exposure to construction-related hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
- Light physical effort.
- Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds and some standing or walking.
- Work requires local and occasional out-of-town travel to job sites and customer locations.
