Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of professional experience programming in RPG/iSeries environments
  • Demonstrated experience with RPGLE/RPG Free programming
  • Experience with SQL/RPGSQL
  • Experience with WMS Systems
  • Proactive and entrepreneurial, but able to operate effectively in a team
  • Confident and self-assured, able to adapt to an environment that is different than where he/she came from

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with TMS (Transportation Management Systems)
  • Basic understanding of DDM connections and communication between multiple AS400 partitions.
  • Experience creating/maintaining service programs, stored procedures, and SQL views.

Our fortune 100 customer in the pharmaceutical space is hiring a talented RPG programmer to join their growing team. The qualified candidate will contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of systems in a scaled agile setting. The incumbent will leverage their expertise in iSeries products and RPG to develop new software components and integrations to onboard a new customer for our distribution services. The qualified candidate will have demonstrated experience working with RPGLE/RPG Free, SQL and RPGSQL, as well as other related technologies.

Responsibilities:

  1. Application Development:
    • Design, develop, code, and test new applications using RPG/Free.
    • Modify existing RPG II programs as needed.
    • Collaborate with business units to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
    • Ensure high-quality software delivery by following best practices and conducting thorough code reviews.
  1. AS/400 Environment Management:
    • Proficiency in managing an AS/400 environment.
    • Hands-on experience in RPG and CL programming.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to AS/400 systems via escalation from the prod support team
  1. Technical Documentation:
    • Create and maintain user and technical system documentation.
    • Document system changes, enhancements, and troubleshooting procedures.
  1. Collaboration and Support:
    • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, analysts, and system administrators.
    • Assist in architecting new software solutions.
    • Provide elevated support and maintenance across multiple platforms.

Team Duties:

  • Develop Software components utilizing using RPG Free, DB2/SQL and RPG/ILE programming.
  • Work with Development Team Lead on design and analysis of software, including supporting documentation.
  • Perform testing/Troubleshooting on escalations and developed applications
  • As required, work with user community during development and testing phases
  • Adhere to internal software development standards and change management procedures
  • Experience creating/maintaining service programs, stored procedures, and SQL views.
  • Basic understanding of DDM connections and communication between multiple AS400 partitions.
  • Knowledge of iSeries API's, Data queues, User queues, multithreading, Journaling, and IBM iSeries file systems.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks as well as work well under pressure to meet project deadlines.
  • Conduct code reviews for the deliverables prepared by other team members.
