The Training/Education Consultant, Optum Advisory- Clinical and Operational Excellence is responsible to help drive project execution for Optum clients or potential clients. This individual will work alongside client teams to solve complex business problems, improve performance, and execute highest priority initiatives. The ideal candidate for this role must be passionate about driving improvements in performance, effective at working in a fast-paced, high-energy environment and confident in their interactions with senior leaders, providers, and business partners.
The role of the Optum Advisory- Clinical and Operational Excellence team is to enable financial sustainability for hospitals and health systems by bringing innovative solutions to controlling and reducing operating costs. Successful hospitals are committed to continuously improving workforce efficiency, reducing supply costs, and addressing inefficiencies in care delivery. The Training/Education consultant, Optum Advisory- Clinical and Operational Excellence will assist work teams assigned to address these issues, including performing baseline assessments, quantifying achievable savings opportunities, designing solutions to address the opportunities, developing and implementing action plans, and tracking and monitoring outcomes. This work spans across the inpatient continuum to include but not exclusive to clinical practice, resource utilization and care variation.

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. Primary Responsibilities:
- Identify training solutions to address business needs/performance gaps, where appropriate
- Evaluate learner readiness to tailor planning of training solutions
- Translate business needs into training/development needs
- Identify/select appropriate training methodologies and communicate to stakeholders (e.g., leadership, training staff, business partners), in order to drive adoption
- Leverage all relevant training/development approaches (e.g., learning from experience, learning from others, learning from education)
- Maintain knowledge of current and planned technology capabilities in the business
- Maintain awareness of a variety of training delivery modes (Instructor-Led, Computer-Based, blended, webinar)
- Maintain knowledge of new/emerging learning techniques/technologies (e.g., video conferencing, video streaming, social media, mobile, gaming)
- Contribute ideas to influence the adoption of technology solutions that enhance training outcomes in the business
- Share best training practices with applicable stakeholders across the business
- Leverage appropriate resources to drive the design, development and delivery of training solutions (Instructional Design Clearinghouse, vendor resources, internal training teams, SMEs)
- Drive marketing and communication of available training solutions (e.g., web sites, newsletters, emails, events) to increase participation
- Develop overall training plans/calendars to communicate and manage training activities/resources -Identify and address implementation obstacles/issues as they arise (e.g., scope changes, resource availability, competing priorities, leadership support, low participation)
- Provide facilitation/support to leadership teams in order to drive achievement of their business goals (e.g., strategic planning, goal identification, change management)
- Recommend enhancements to our learning processes and systems (e.g., needs assessment process, intake process, online tools)
- Lead instructional designers to ensure that designs meet requirements (e.g., business needs, design quality, cost effectiveness, learning objectives)
- Identify and implement practices to measure training impact and help leaders ensure that training is applied on the job (e.g., Metrics That Matter, Level III evaluations, follow-up surveys, development actions, learner assessments)
- Analyze training evaluation data to measure training effectiveness and linkage to job performance (e.g., Metrics That Matter, informal feedback from participants/trainers, client satisfaction scores, Net Promoter Scores)
- Monitor/analyze training metrics/data/trends, and communicate areas needing attention to applicable stakeholders (e.g., trainers, designers, leaders, Human Capital, external training clients)

Required Qualifications:
- Registered Nurse, unrestricted license (current)
- 5+ years of experience in (Hospital or University) Adult Education content design, delivery, and outcomes measurement
- Experience with Content Creation programs/software, Storyline or similar, with ability to manage, upload and assign courses as well as run reports
- Advanced Microsoft Office expertise
- Ability to travel up to 25%
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in hospital management and/or clinical transformation consulting engagements
- Foundational understanding of inpatient case management, including care transformation and care variation
- Foundational understanding of health systems / provider organizations
- Proven solid analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to solve complex problems and communicate findings
- Demonstrated excellent time management, organizational, and prioritization skills
- Demonstrated ability to communicate ideas clearly and concisely with all levels of an Organization
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work independently in a fast-paced environment
