This role will focus on circuit provisioning, circuit inventory management, workflow processes, establishing strong relationships with Managed Service Providers (MSPs), and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the telecommunication channels that assist in grid operations. As a Senior Telecommunications Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust telecommunications infrastructure, ensuring reliable and efficient communication systems for our organization.

How you will make an Impact
- Design and implement circuit-provisioning processes to ensure seamless connectivity and communication within the organization.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to establish circuit requirements and coordinate installations.
- Conduct thorough testing and troubleshooting to validate circuit functionality and performance.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive inventory of circuits, including detailed documentation of circuit types, capacities, locations, and associated hardware.
- Regularly update the circuit inventory database, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.
- Monitor circuit utilization and recommend optimization strategies to improve efficiency and reduce costs
- Assess existing workflow processes related to telecommunications operations and identify areas for improvement.
- Streamline and optimize workflow processes to enhance productivity, reduce turnaround times, and increase overall operational efficiency.
- Implement best practices and standardized procedures to ensure consistency across the organization.
- Establish and foster strong relationships with Managed Service Providers (MSPs) to ensure smooth collaboration and effective service delivery.
- Act as the main point of contact for MSPs, facilitating regular communication, addressing concerns, and resolving issues promptly.
- Negotiate contracts and service level agreements (SLAs) with MSPs, ensuring compliance with organizational requirements.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the telecommunications environment, including monitoring system performance, identifying and resolving issues, and ensuring uninterrupted service delivery.
- Conduct regular audits and assessments to ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and security protocols.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as network engineers, IT professionals, and utility operations, to support organizational objectives and meet business requirements.
What we are looking for
- Bachelor s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology, closely related field, or equivalent years of professional experience
- 10+ years experience in designing and maintaining telecommunication systems, preferably with an electric utility, to include hands-on experience supporting both voice and data
- 3+ years experience providing day-to-day guidance to team members in either a direct supervisory or indirect coaching capacity
