Job Summary:
The Director of Operations will manage daily operations and coordinate across departments to ensure smooth business performance. The successful candidate will bring experience in operations management, exceptional organizational skills, and a hands-on approach to team leadership. This role offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a growing team and will report directly to Ownership.
Responsibilities:
- Scheduling:
- Develop and manage staff schedules, ensuring adequate coverage at all times.
- Coordinate shift coverage during emergencies or unforeseen absences.
- Payroll:
- Review and update weekly payroll, including hours and tips for all employees.
- Maintain employee payroll information in collaboration with the HR department.
- Hiring and Firing:
- Lead recruitment efforts to hire qualified team members, with final approval from Ownership.
- Oversee onboarding processes to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws.
- Training:
- Formalize and implement training programs for new hires and ongoing staff training.
- Conduct sessions on opening/closing procedures and enforce dress code expectations.
- Order Management:
- Coordinate with the Shift Lead to manage orders from vendors, including Baldor, Too Rise, Unique Coffee, and more.
- System Setup:
- Create and maintain operational resources, such as front-of-house coffee guides, back-of-house recipes, portion controls, and presentation guidelines.
- Music Management:
- Curate store playlists and set volume levels to enhance the customer experience.
- Merchandising Coordination:
- Plan and coordinate merchandise launch dates and set up in-store displays.
- Inventory Restocking:
- Ensure merchandise is restocked and maintained at all locations.
- Inter-company Supplies Delivery:
- Oversee distribution of food and supplies to between all locations from the main production facility.
- Online Orders:
- Supervise processing and fulfillment of online orders, ensuring timely shipments twice a week.
- Storage Organization:
- Maintain organized storage of catering and merchandise items at the Grand Street facility.
- Catering Outreach:
- Develop and expand catering opportunities for corporate, event, and wedding clients.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in operations management, ideally in a restaurant or retail setting.
- Strong leadership skills and ability to effectively manage and motivate a team.
- Familiarity with scheduling software, payroll systems, and order management processes.
- Knowledge of state, local, and federal employment laws.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
