Role Overview

We are looking for a Junior Development Engineer with 1-2 years of experience in solar to support our utility-scale solar project development. This role is ideal for someone early in their career, with a solid engineering foundation and initial experience in solar design or project development. Working closely with senior engineers and development managers, you will play a critical role in the design and engineering processes that drive project success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Support: Assist in the development of utility-scale solar projects, including preliminary site design, project modeling, and permitting support.
  • Design & Analysis: Contribute to PV system design, including site layouts, electrical schematics, and system configuration, while ensuring compliance with design standards and regulations.
  • Technical Documentation: Support the preparation of technical drawings, specifications, and project documentation for project proposals and regulatory submissions.
  • Coordination with Teams: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project management, EPC, and regulatory teams, to support project timelines and address engineering needs.
  • Site Evaluation & Analysis: Assist in site visits, feasibility assessments, and data collection for project design and performance analysis.
  • Compliance & Safety: Ensure all design work adheres to safety standards, regulatory guidelines, and company quality standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: 1-2 years of experience in solar energy, preferably with exposure to utility-scale solar projects.

Technical Skills:

  • Basic proficiency in solar design software, such as AutoCAD, PVsyst, or Helioscope.
  • Foundational knowledge of electrical and/or structural engineering principles related to solar PV systems.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Location: Ability to work on-site in Massachusetts with occasional travel to project sites as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Solar Design Experience: Prior experience in solar PV design or development engineering is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Permitting Processes: Basic knowledge of permitting and regulatory requirements for utility-scale solar in Massachusetts.
