Peraton is looking for a Journeyman High Performance Computing (HPC) Software Engineer (SWE) to facilitate the government implementation of a large HPC-related program. This program is cutting edge and includes everything from HPC test planning and execution, architecture design and prototyping, and vendor outreach and collaboration support.
On this program, the HPC SWE personnel design, develop, test, deploy, document, maintain, and enhance complex and diverse software for HPC (high performance computing) systems based upon documented requirements. The HPC systems might include, but are not limited to, processing-intensive analytics, novel algorithm development, manipulation of extremely large data sets, real-time systems, and systems which incorporate data repositories, data transport services, and application and systems development and monitoring. Target Salary Range
$104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
Peraton is looking for a Journeyman High Performance Computing (HPC) Software Engineer (SWE) to facilitate the government implementation of a large HPC-related program. This program is cutting edge and includes everything from HPC test planning and execution, architecture design and prototyping, and vendor outreach and collaboration support.
On this program, the HPC SWE personnel design, develop, test, deploy, document, maintain, and enhance complex and diverse software for HPC (high performance computing) systems based upon documented requirements. The HPC systems might include, but are not limited to, processing-intensive analytics, novel algorithm development, manipulation of extremely large data sets, real-time systems, and systems which incorporate data repositories, data transport services, and application and systems development and monitoring. Depending on the specific assignment, the HPC SWE will work individually or as part of a team to:
- Develop or implement algorithms to meet or exceed system performance and functional standards,
- Develop or modify software to optimally map algorithms to a particular hardware architecture,
- Oversee one or more software development teams and ensure the work is completed in accordance with the constraints of the software development process being used on any particular project,
- Confer with system engineers and hardware engineers to derive software requirements and to obtain information on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements, and interfaces,
- Coordinate software installation on a system and monitor performance to ensure operational specifications are met,
- Review and tests software components for adherence to the design requirements and documents test results, and resolve software problem reports,
- Utilize software development and software design methodologies appropriate to the development environment,
- Provide specific input to the software components of system design to include hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, use of Open Source Software (OSS) and/or Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS)/Government Off-The-Shelf (GOTS) software in place of new development, and / or
- Perform requirements analysis and synthesis from system level to individual software components of software algorithms or by devising a novel software approach to take advantage of new or unique implementation.
Qualifications
- Position requires TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.
- Nine (9 ) years of High Performance Computing Software Engineering experience, OR
- Bachelor's degree in Math, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline from an accredited college or university plus seven (7) years of systems engineering experience, OR
- A Master's degree OR PhD in a in Math, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline from an accredited college or university plus five (5) years of systems engineering experience.
- Individuals in this role must have either a very strong math background and/or a very strong computer hardware background.
- One or both of these skill sets are required in order for the HPC SWE to be able to understand the intricacies of the HPC architecture that is being targeted by the software being developed, or to understand the complex mathematical principles which underlie the software applications being developed.
- Individuals must have experience with container technologies, such as Docker.
- Must have working knowledge of Configuration Management (CM) tools and Web Services
