Project Manager/ Scrum Master - Enterprise Data & Analytics

The Enterprise Chief Data & Analytics Officer at Northern Trust is looking for an experienced agile project manager/scrum master to coordinate the development of data-focused products that deliver value to our internal stakeholders within the Enterprise Data Program Management Office. This role is needed to support the Enterprise Data & Analytics team and product owners in managing communications with stakeholders, managing stakeholders' expectations for deliverables, and implementing effective agile practices.

This individual will be responsible for managing and coordinating the work of multiple teams in their assigned portfolios. These include strategic data governance, data management, master and data delivery, and business analytics products that drive change throughout the enterprise. The project manager facilitates project execution and drives the successful completion of quarterly deliverables. This role is responsible for aligning resources, releases, and tracking key milestones/risks/dependencies while overseeing the budget and communicating broadly through the organization.

The key responsibilities of the role include:

Under general supervision (but works independently most of the time) responsible for helping manage a portfolio of projects on behalf of the Data Project Management Office.

The Data Project Management Office (PMO) helps manage and prioritize a portfolio of key data initiatives on behalf of stakeholders resulting in monitoring projects or programs against larger capital targets, managing the demand & supply for project resource requests resulting in reallocating or deploying more resources, and addressing the sequencing of work as needed.

This role is responsible for aligning resources, overseeing the budget, creating project plans and tracking key milestones/risks/dependencies using both agile and non-agile methodologies.

Job Description

1. The Project Manager will be responsible for leading, planning, managing and directing multiple projects and teams simultaneously.

2. Carries out complex activities with significant financial, client, and/or internal business impact

3. May have direct interaction with committees and/or Senior Management

4. May manage daily operational activities and supervise day-to-day work of junior level employees (but not a formal management role)

5. More technically sound in area of expertise and has broader knowledge of other areas

6. Delivers a work product that requires less revision

7. Able to facilitate discussions and reach decisions

8. Conducts preliminary analysis

Competencies/Skills:

More technically sound in area of expertise (project management) with broader knowledge of other areas.

Knowledge of agile methodologies (scrum, kanban, SAFe, etc)

Excellent oral and written communication skills are required

Highly flexible and adaptable to change

Carries out complex activities with significant financial, client, and/or internal business impact.

Able to serve as a key subject matter expert and mentor to other more junior level employees.

Experience :

A College or University degree and/or 4+ years relevant proven work experience is required.

Related project management certification (PMP, CPM, scrum, agile, etc.) is preferred
