Enterprise Data & Analytics is looking to add a Data Governance Lead role to support General Corporate Functions. This role is vital in ensuring effective data governance practices for General Corporate Functions including Corporate & Digital Strategy, Audit Services, Regulatory Affairs, and Corp Sustainability, Inclusion & Social Impact. Support of other Corporate Functions such as Legal may be needed as well.
Responsible for representing the assigned business area(s) and serves as the single point of contact for that area, the Data Governance Lead will be a influencing change and will ensure the business area is compliant and meeting the needs of the enterprise as it relates to Data Governance. This requires the Data Governance Lead to stay connected to several departments in order to understand and guide regarding initiatives that may have data impact.

Major Duties:
- Data Governance Strategy Execution: Lead the development and execution of corporate data governance strategies in line with enterprise Data Governance Policies and the Data Management Program. This includes providing feedback on data standards, policies, and procedures. Data Governance at NT includes:
- Data Classification
- Metadata Management and Information Architecture
- Data Quality Management
- Data & Records Management
- Collaboration and partnerships with Data Privacy, Information Security, Data Analytics, and Model Risk Management
- Collaborative Efforts with Stakeholders: Work with various departments supported to align data governance practices with both internal and external standards and requirements. Create or update document taxonomies and actively participate in the semantic reconciliation of data models.
- Data Governance Training: Leverage knowledge in data governance to contribute to training and development, ensuring up-to-date practices in data governance for the Corporate Functions within scope.
- Data Quality and Protection: Enforce data quality and protection standards, including implementing relevant controls to maintain data integrity and confidentiality. This includes engaging appropriate data consumers to define their critical data and work across business units to gain agreement on critical data standards and alignment.
- Compliance and Risk Assessment: Assist in monitoring adherence to data governance policies and regulatory requirements, identifying and partnering with issue owners of potential data-related risks. This includes exhibiting strong relationship management skills to ensure data owners, custodians and consumers are meeting critical business priorities and interacting across areas as needed to solve business objectives.
- Tools and Technology Management: Engage in the operation and management of data governance tools and technologies, keeping updated with capabilities in the field.
- Metrics and Reporting: Contribute to developing metrics and reports to measure the success of data governance initiatives and support in providing updates to senior management.
- Support: Collaborate with teams across the various divisions to ensure comprehensive integration of data governance practices across the organization. The Data Governance Lead would resolve conflicting priorities and establish an oversight process to provide for tracking of important business, client and regulatory initiatives ensuring delivery of data requirements
- Data Strategy Alignment: Ensure Corporate functions manage data appropriately and align the NT Data Strategy as needed.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Understand and be capable of effectively communicating the role of Data Governance to both business and technical communities within the sphere of data domain
- Understand key business drivers of those functions which enter, modify, manage, and consume the data within business area
- Understand all aspects of defining and implementing data quality management
- Capable of engaging senior leadership with business, operations, and technology
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Possess strong leadership and organizational awareness skills
- Possess proven facilitation and conflict resolution skills
- Possess exceptional analytical, conceptual and problem-solving abilities
- Capable of driving enterprise-wide initiatives for the definition and adoption of common data dictionaries and enterprise business ontology
- Capable of addressing data issues proactively
- Legal experience with Records Management a plus
Experience:
- A College or University degree and/or equivalent data governance work experience is required.
- 10+ years' experience in data governance or data management.
- Strong cross business unit experience leading enterprise initiatives
