Who We Are:

Our section performs structural design, analysis, test, and repair for many different aircraft and aerospace vehicles. The part of the section working on site at Hill AFB, Utah provides direct support to our USAF customers. The candidate will be tasked with helping to maintain safety of flight for military and commercial derivative aircraft. The alternate work locations for this role include Oklahoma City, OK/Tinker AFB as well as Layton, UT/Hill AFB.

Objectives of this Role:

  • Performs professional aerospace structural engineering work involved in the application of advanced theories, concepts, principles, and processes to the acquisition, development, or sustainment of weapon systems, subsystems, and/or support equipment.
  • Functions as a structural specialist in design, analysis and development engineering for critical structural systems.
  • Performs complex and comprehensive analysis and uses systematic, disciplined, quantifiable approaches to implement, develop, and document projects.
  • Serves as a technical specialist to USAF and/or Department of Defense (DoD) officials responsible for broad program operations.
  • Provide a bridge for airworthiness of commercial derivative military aircraft for USAF and FAA/civilian airworthiness.
  • Produces desired results, in the needed timeframe, with the appropriate level of supervision through the use of appropriate knowledge, skills, abilities, and understanding of the technical requirements of the job.

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:

  • Knowledge of professional aerospace structural engineering concepts, principles, practices, standards, methods, techniques, materials, and equipment to effectively apply advanced engineering theories, principles, and concepts to projects.
  • Knowledge of development testing and evaluation sufficient to apply experimental theories and new applications to issues and provide technical advice and direction in support of weapon systems, subsystems, and/or support equipment.
  • Knowledge of integrated air-vehicles, ground systems, and support equipment sufficient to plan, design, test, troubleshoot, evaluate, and oversee the development and/or sustainment of aerospace vehicles, systems, equipment, and components.
  • Knowledge of other engineering disciplines and standard acquisition regulations, practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to devise and evaluate criteria, parameters, characteristics, and interrelationships for design approaches, and to assess the impact of new technology.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy, both orally and in writing, as well as work in a professional manner with peers, management, contractors, academia, and other agencies.

Requirements:

  • Requires a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or other related engineering field.
  • 5-12 years: Knowledge of stress analysis and common structural failure modes .
  • 5-12 years: Experience in aircraft structures, aircraft fleet management, structural repair, static strength analysis, stress analysis, aerospace engineering, strength of materials.
  • 0-5 years: Airworthiness certification (military and/or civilian) experience.
  • 0-5 years: Design and analysis of structural repair concepts.
  • A valid/clear driver's license is required.

Special Requirements:

Work assignment is in Ogden, Utah. Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
