Position: Transport Engineer
Location: Richardson, TX (Hybrid)
30 Month Contract
Description:
Define, engineer, and resolve network capacity requirements for Voice/Video Network using cutting-edge equipment to meet capacity, vulnerability, diversity, and growth needs.
Specific Responsibilities:
  • Perform detailed equipment engineering for network augments, including developing specifications for installation, turn-up, inventory, and configuration of equipment.
  • Obtain management approvals, issue purchase orders, create diagrams/drawings, and ensure vendor delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with engineering, financial, planning, and operational standards.
  • Define cable requirements, create cable running lists, and barcode BOM for installed equipment.
  • Manage, input, and update the central Network Inventory Database (e.g., ICON, CoFEE, Canvas) to reflect new builds, additions, and decommissions.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, networking, computer science, telecommunications, or equivalent job-related experience.
  • 5-6 years of progressive, technical experience required.
  • Experience in engineering and/or installation and testing in one or more of the following transport technologies: Ciena, Nortel, Fujitsu, Cisco, Alcatel-Lucent, Synamedia, Dell, NetApp, Comscope, and other common headend equipment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites and CAD-based software for drawing complex system diagrams is preferred.

  • Teamwork: Ability to work well with others and individually on projects with a positive attitude.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
