Job Description
We are a Quality Control, Quality Assurance laboratory supporting the Sulfuric Acid regeneration business. We also hold and maintain a National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit which requires the analysis and reporting of local, state, and national environmental compliance procedures. We use wet chemistry techniques as well as advanced analytical instrumentation to support our primary business and comply with our environmental responsibilities.

Schedule: Tuesday through Saturday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m

Job Description
We are a Quality Control, Quality Assurance laboratory supporting the Sulfuric Acid regeneration business. We also hold and maintain a National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit which requires the analysis and reporting of local, state, and national environmental compliance procedures. We use wet chemistry techniques as well as advanced analytical instrumentation to support our primary business and comply with our environmental responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine laboratory analysis for plant process control and quality control.
- Perform daily routine and reportable NPDES environmental analysis.
- Have a thorough knowledge of customer specifications, action levels, and permit criteria for all products, raw materials, and environmental samples, and recognize when actions need to be taken.
- Purchase and prepare chemical stock solutions, standards, and reagents.
- Accurately prepare and record laboratory reagents and standards, including standardization and validation where applicable.
- Generate accurate lab data and reports.
- Ensure all lab equipment is properly maintained and calibrated.
- Provide laboratory support and open communication across all departments.
- Demonstrate good housekeeping behavior.
- Perform plant performance tests.
- Participate in Plant Improvement Teams such as Emergency Response and at least one other team.
- Be knowledgeable of and comply with all applicable site, corporate, legal, regulatory safety, and environmental requirements.
- Support HSE management systems.
- Attend and actively participate in safety meetings and complete all applicable safety training.
- Properly inspect, use, and maintain necessary PPE in accordance with site PPE matrix.
- Report all safety or environmental incidents immediately and participate in incident investigation.
- Communicate hazards and exposure involved in specific work tasks clearly to all involved.
- Know where to find and how to access site SDS program and materials.
- Be knowledgeable of site contractor safety programs.
- Approach the job with the principle that all incidents are preventable.
- Make and implement recommendations to resolve site safety and environmental issues.
- Ensure compliance with training expectations defined in the site safety training matrix.
- Be observant for and address any safety and environmental issues seen with any employee, contractor, or visitor.
- Ship samples in accordance with IATA regulations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related field from a four-year college.
- Experience in a wet chemistry laboratory.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Knowledge and experience with advanced analytical instrumentation.
- Understanding of environmental compliance procedures.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
