Job Title: Data Engineer (Ex Capital One Resource Needed)
Location: Richmond, VA
Contract : C2c or W2
Role Summary
As a Data Engineer, you will leverage your background in data engineering, ETL processes, and data warehousing to build scalable data solutions that meet the needs of multiple business units. The ideal candidate is experienced with cloud technologies, big data tools, and brings a strategic approach to data management and engineering.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines and ETL processes to ingest and transform data from various sources.
- Build and optimize data models to support analytics and reporting, ensuring accuracy, reliability, and scalability.
- Manage and monitor cloud-based data infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) to ensure seamless data flows.
- Collaborate with Data Analysts, Data Scientists, and stakeholders to understand data needs and provide optimized solutions.
- Implement data governance standards, including data quality, security, and compliance, leveraging best practices in data management.
- Troubleshoot and resolve data issues, ensuring high availability and minimal downtime.
Qualifications
- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
- 3+ years of data engineering experience, ideally with exposure to financial services or regulated industries (experience at Capital One is highly desirable).
- Strong proficiency with SQL and at least one programming language (Python, Java, or Scala).
- Experience with big data technologies such as Spark, Hadoop, or Kafka.
- Proficient in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud), including data warehousing services like Redshift, BigQuery, or Snowflake.
- Familiarity with data modeling, ETL tools, and best practices in data management.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI) to support analytics teams.
- Knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automation tools.
- Familiarity with data security protocols and regulatory compliance standards, especially in financial services.
