This is a W-2 position only (no staffing agencies or contractors). Candidates must currently reside in the U.S.
Remote
Schedule:
Monday-Friday, core hours 8 am-5 pm CT.
Once every 7 weeks, participation in an on-call rotation, including weekend hours, is required.
Role Overview:
This role is responsible for the architecture, engineering, and support of the Enterprise BI application environments for our client. It involves multitasking, supporting multiple BI development and operations teams, and engaging with a large and diverse user community. On-call participation is mandatory. The successful candidate will have experience and confidence in the following areas:
- Lead the design, analysis, development, and implementation of engineering infrastructure solutions to ensure high availability and low latency for various BI suite services.
- Conduct risk assessments, collaborate on capacity planning, and diagnose and resolve application/network issues.
- Exercise creativity, foresight, and sound judgment in planning and delivering initiatives.
- Provide thought leadership within Infrastructure Engineering while working on broader projects that require a deep understanding of business needs.
- Plan, research, evaluate, design, and develop complex network systems, applying engineering, hardware, and software design theories to align with organizational strategies.
Position Requirements:
- Advanced knowledge and experience with various BI product suites (BI Server, Web Portal, Data Store, Desktop Clients).
- Proficiency in system/application administration at an advanced level.
- Strong troubleshooting skills (ability to think outside the box) and advanced shell scripting for databases, including Oracle, SQL Server, and Teradata.
- Experience with reporting and data analysis software (e.g., building reports, dashboards, etc.).
- Knowledge of various reporting platforms and cross-platform technology concepts.
- BI infrastructure support experience, including installations, upgrades, patches, migrations, and disaster recovery planning.
- Expertise in managing, installing, and administering BOBJ environments, including creating tools to monitor BOBJ utilization.
- Experience with SAP B2B tools such as HANA and authentication tools like OKTA.
- Ability to create and support custom .NET SDK VB/JSP scripts.
- Experience with event-driven job scheduling (internal or external).
- Ability to write and troubleshoot custom BOE reports and universes.
- Experience with SSRS, PowerBI, and the Cognos analytics suite.
- Participation in 24x7 on-call rotation for multiple Windows-based BI tools.
- BI architecture experience.
- Knowledge of SQL programming.
- Windows Server support experience.
- Shell scripting and automation experience.
- Experience with requirements gathering.
- Broad IT experience, including a range of hardware, software, operating systems, and networking skills.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline is PREFERRED. At least six, typically eight or more years of experience in all phases of BI infrastructure and administration support, or equivalent education and work experience.
