Description:
Summary: As a Senior Estimator, you will be responsible for leading the execution of cost estimates, client engagement and project presentation, as well as collaborating directly with the Director of Preconstruction Services on various projects. Your ability to be detailed and proactive with strong leadership skills will lend you to be successful within this role.
Responsibilities/Duties:
Lead Project Estimation 90%
- Perform the responsibilities of an Estimator on large commercial projects as assigned
- Present budget and bid estimate information to Owner and Design Professional teams
- Prepare accurate quantity surveys and estimates for those divisions of the bid as assigned at all levels of estimates
- Create scope documents that communicate inclusions, exclusions and clarifications of the estimate to Owners, Architects and other stake holders
- Prepare complete costs estimates at every level of design, including, but not limited to; Conceptual, Schematic, Design Development and Construction Documents
- Analyze building systems as projects require, including recommendations on structural systems, MEP systems, etc. Analysis may include quantity survey, subcontractor pricing, unit costing, material breakdowns, etc.
- Lead project kick-off and close out meetings with team
- Participate and occasionally lead client presentations with Sales & Marketing team
- Attend Architectural / Engineering design meetings as required
- Attend Owner meetings as required
- Attend project walk-through s and communicate with Owners, designers and subcontractors on location
- Prepare Bid Tabs for hard bid and negotiated projects with complete summaries and communicate understanding of scope with DOPS and assigned Project Managers
- Decipher bid opportunities and report accordingly, responding as directed
- Take the lead on managing current estimating software programs including, reviewing and recommending potential upgrades to estimating software programs
- Attend meetings and trainings as assigned
- Complete projects as assigned
Team Management 10%
- Hold Field Team accountable to goals and objectives set by the Company and DOPS
- Train and mentor new employees and be an ambassador of Catalyst Construction
- Participate in the peer review process during annual compensation and performance reviews
- Work to resolve interpersonal issues and conflicts as they arise
- Delegate job assignments and review workload as necessary
- 5+ years of Estimating or Surveying experience
- Associate s or Bachelor s degree in Construction Management, Structural, Civil or Architectural Engineering is preferred, but not required
- Reliable transportation
- Advanced knowledge of construction management processes and methods
- Demonstrates high level of Emotional Intelligence when dealing with all levels of the company and clients
- Desire to train, manage, and lead a team of professionals
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Expert knowledge of estimating programs such as On-Center, I^2ft, Adobe, BlueBeam, etc.
- Strong time management and organizations skills
- Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships
- Ability to effectively manage time, multi-task, and pay close attention to details
- Self-motivated professional with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Regularly required to move, sit, and bend for various hours throughout the day
