The position

Officengine is seeking an experienced & intellectually curious HR Manager - Payroll & Benefits to join our team and support the payroll, benefits & HR operations of our growing portfolio of clients. This role provides the curious, creative, entrepreneurial-minded candidate a significant opportunity to make an impact, not simply in shaping our clients operations but also in the development/refinement of a package of services we may offer future clients.

As a small team with a diverse client base, opportunities for learning and skills development present themselves daily. Adding to this, the legislative changes over the past ten years (ACA, Covid-19, Employee v. Independent contractors) and the HR Manager - Payroll & Benefits, will be busy researching, interpreting guidance, and in conjunction with Leadership, determining the necessity of disseminating this information and how processes/workflows may need adjustment. The ideal candidate will be a master communicator.

We're eager to hear from team players who roll up their sleeves to get the job done. Who have experience mentoring and coaching a team. Someone kind, filled with empathy, honesty, and passion for their work.

You have the opportunity to
  • Become an expert in processing payroll using Rippling, Gusto, & ADP.
  • Interact with clients on a cadence you define - to understand anticipated growth, pain points, and needs, recommending services as their business grows (required harassment training, sick time requirements, FMLA, 401k matching, FSA, etc)

  • Interact with our client's employees - answering their questions, explaining tax forms, pay stubs, and guiding them through performing necessary actions within the HRIS/payroll system.

  • Oversee project implementations involving HR-related software/tools.

  • In time, hire, inspire, and coach a team of HR professionals

  • Work closely with partners to extract the best outcomes for Officengine and our clients

  • Become a subject-matter expert on all things People operations, payroll, benefits, wellness, and matters related to employee engagement.

Whom we're looking for
  • 5+ years of relevant experience required.

  • Expert communicator (verbal/non-verbal & written) required.

  • Experience teaching, motivating, training, or coaching a team

  • Required values/skills: empathy, honesty, curiosity, kindness, integrity, and passion/pride in your work.

  • Must be a team player and self-motivated

  • MS Office/Google Workspace experience.

  • BS/BA degree required.
