Description
Our team is seeking a Network Administrator. This is to support the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) cybersecurity mission to ensure HHS can actively protect the vital health information with which it is entrusted, respond to existing and emerging cybersecurity threats, and continue to enhance the program to ensure HHS has the capability and capacity to respond to new and emerging requirements, technologies and threats.
This role is 100% remote.
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Network Design and Implementation:
o Design, deploy, and manage network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, VPN, and wireless networks.
o Configure and Monitor Cisco IP Phone with ISE Systems
o Implement network solutions that align with the organization's strategic goals and objectives.
o Evaluate and recommend new networking technologies and solutions to improve performance and efficiency.
Network Maintenance and Support:
o Monitor network performance and troubleshoot network issues to ensure minimal downtime and optimal performance.
o Perform regular network maintenance tasks, including firmware updates, patch management, and hardware replacements.
o Provide technical support and expertise to resolve network-related issues and outages promptly.
Security Management:
o Implement and manage network security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and encryption.
o Conduct regular security assessments and vulnerability scans to identify and mitigate risks.
o Develop and enforce network security policies and procedures to protect organizational data and resources.
Network Optimization:
o Analyze network traffic and performance metrics to identify bottlenecks and areas for improvement.
o Optimize network configurations and implement quality of service (QoS) policies to ensure efficient data flow.
o Collaborate with other IT teams to optimize network-related aspects of applications and services.
Documentation and Reporting:
o Maintain detailed documentation of network configurations, changes, and procedures.
o Generate regular reports on network performance, security incidents, and maintenance activities.
o Develop and update disaster recovery and business continuity plans for network infrastructure.
Team Leadership and Collaboration:
o Mentor and provide guidance to junior network administrators and IT staff.
o Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including systems administrators, developers, and security professionals, to support IT projects and initiatives.
o Participate in planning and execution of IT infrastructure projects and upgrades.
Soft Skills:
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and lead a team.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
Qualifications
Required Experience:
Target salary range: $80,001 - $120,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.

Qualifications
Required Experience:
- Bachelors degree and 5 years or more of related experience; Masters and 3 years of related experience. May accept an additional 4 years of experience in lieu of a degree.
- Ideally 10 years of Networking experience is preferred.
- Proven ability to implement, configure, and support activities with Cisco switches and Palo Alto firewalls.
- Understanding of how to develop, identify and research new ways to interact with data and visualization to provide customers advanced awareness of the operational environment.
- Advanced knowledge of cyber threats, tools, techniques and processes.
- Network certification, such as CCNA or CCNP.
- Experience with implementing, configuring and managing network security infrastructure, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and virtual private networks (VPNs).
- Ability to conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration tests to identify and mitigate security risks.
- Experience with developing and implementing security policies and procedures.
- Ability to monitor and analyze network traffic for suspicious activity.
- Experience with responding to security incidents and taking appropriate action to contain and remediate the issue.
- Ability to stay up to date with the latest network security threats and vulnerabilities.
- Experience with collaborating with other IT staff and stakeholders to ensure the overall security of the network
