Lockwood Hills Federal is seeking a User Interface/User Experience (UIUX) Designer to help develop applications and user experience interfaces for cloud-based enterprise training systems for the Advanced Distributed Learning (ADL) Initiative. ADL bridges US Government agencies to encourage collaboration, facilitate interoperability, and promote best practices for using distributed learning to provide the highest-quality education, training, informal learning.
This position will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining cloud-based solutions that enhance learning experiences. Responsibilities
- Plans, executes, and leads the full range of UIUX discovery, design, evaluation, and iterative development tasks
- Defines or refines end user roles and personas
- Captures or extracts end user requirements in concisely written user stories - leveraging project team members, existing documentation, customers, and end users
- Optimizes the re-use of user stories (and associated artifacts) across customer product implementations
- Articulates end user narratives and flows
- Generates prototype UIUX designs consistent with best practices in UIUX design and customer style guides; and/or evaluate third party designs against style guides
- Illustrates design concepts using storyboards, wireframes, process flows, site maps
- Demonstrates a strong design aesthetic that brings together brand expressions and systems thinking
- Maintains a system mindset taking the complex and making it simple
- Organizes Figma documents and set up Figma Libraries that are aligned with style guide(s)
- Executes UIUX review of prototype designs or applications and document detailed formative feedback for project team managers and developers
- Evaluates designs or applications against UIUX best practices
- Designs, leads, and conducts UX Heuristic Reviews or Audits to identify user flow deficiencies or improvement areas appropriate to a given application (considering goals of the evaluation, application maturity, time constraints, etc.)
- Works with Human Centered Design team, project team, and end users to iteratively prototype and advance user interfaces, user workflows and other user experiences through a system or application
- Creates detailed and well-organized UIUX documentation such as Requirements - personas and user stories
- Designs documents - user flows/user journeys/experience maps/affinity maps/interaction models and UI specifications, low - high-fidelity wireframes/mocks/prototypes, accessibility; UIUX best practice analysis reports, usability testing assessments
- Develops Standard Operating Procedures or business rules defining UIUX tasking and coordination within complex, interdisciplinary project teams
- Typically resolves complex problems or problems where precedent may not exist
- Uses best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve products/services or processes
- Performs other duties not outlined above, at the discretion of the ADL Initiative leadership
Qualifications
- Maintain DoD Secret clearance
- Experience creating, managing, and presenting design work in Figma to include wireframing, prototype development, end-user testing, and demonstrations.
- Experience and Education:
- 5yr relevant experience OR
- 3 yrs exp + Bachelor's degree in UIUX or related area OR
- 2 yrs exp + advanced degree in UIUX or related area
- Works independently
- Contributes to process improvements
- Works with minimal guidance
- Is comfortable working directly with the client
- Is flexible and comfortable working in an agile environment
