Under the general supervision of the Vice President of Direct Clinical Services, the Data Analyst will collect and analyze data for DWIHN direct services and the Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) to help DWIHN provide better member services and outcomes.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collects, analyzes, interprets, and summarizes data in preparation for generation of statistical and analytical reports.
- Develops data quality measures, analyzes data quality results, and implements necessary changes to ensure data quality improvement.
- Develops, implements and maintains databases.
- Assesses the quality of data and removes or cleans data.
- Develops data collection instruments.
- Develops and utilizes instruments and methods for the evaluation and quality control of research or operational data.
- Maintains computerized collection and tracking of relevant data.
- Analyzes and interprets data to determine areas of success or areas of needed improvement.
- Creates reports for internal teams and/or external clients.
- Creates graphs, infographics and other methods to visualize data.
- Creates presentations based on recommendations and findings.
- Uses automated tools to extract data from primary and secondary sources.
- Uses statistical formulas to compute and analyze data.
- Verifies the accuracy, completeness, and reliability of data.
- Searches for and identifies new sources and methods of data collection.
- Sets up the data infrastructure.
- Compiles and queries data.
- Identifies data gaps, errors, anomalies, inconsistencies, and redundancies by analyzing the content, structure, and relationships within data.
- Interprets results to identify significant differences in data.
- Filters data by reviewing reports and performance indicators to identify and correct problems.
- Performs quality assurance functions and serves as a subject matter expert on data integrity, extraction, and compilation.
- Collects and analyzes HEDIS and NCQA measures and data.
- Works with the Quality and Integrated Care Departments on performance improvement plans.
- Collaborates with Integrated Care Organizations (ICO s).
- Analyzes local, national, and global trends that impact member care and services.
- Prepares reports for management that will note trends, patterns, and predictions using relevant data.
- Performs Quality Management and Quality Improvement functions.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSA S):
- Knowledge of data collection and analysis.
- Knowledge of statistics and statistical packages like Excel, SPSS, SAS to be used for data set analyzing.
- Knowledge of electronic chart systems
- Knowledge of research methodology, principles and procedures.
- Knowledge of databases such as SQL Server, Oracle and SAP.
- Knowledge of reporting & data visualization tools such as Business Objects, PowerBI and Tableau.
- Knowledge of mathematical and numerical skills for the purpose of collecting, measuring, organizing and analyzing data.
- Knowledge of database design development, data models, techniques for data mining, and segmentation.
- Knowledge of DWIHN policies, procedures and practices.
- Knowledge of the Michigan Mental Health Code.
- Knowledge of MDHHS policies, rules, regulations and procedures.
- Knowledge of Federal policies, rules, regulations and procedures as it relates to DWIHN.
- Knowledge of NCQA requirements and the accreditation process.
- Knowledge of HEDIS measures and standards.
- Knowledge of the principles and methodology of total quality management (TQM)/ continuous quality improvement (CQI), specifically the PDSA/PDCA Cycle, quality tools and techniques, and models for improvement.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:
A Bachelor s Degree from a recognized college or university in Business Administration, Public Health, Public Administration, Mathematics, Statistics, Information Technology, Healthcare Administration, Health Care Management, a Human Service, a Social Service or a related field.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
Four (4) years of professional experience performing data collection and analysis including at least one (1) year of experience working in a mental health or behavioral health setting.
REQUIRED LICENSE(S).
A valid State of Michigan Driver s License with a safe and acceptable driving record.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed in an office/clinic setting.
