Senior Financial Systems Specialist
Location: Boston, NYC, East Lansing, MI, Omaha, NE (HYBRID)

The Senior Financial Systems Specialist will play a crucial role in the administration and optimization of financial systems to enhance the accuracy, efficiency, and insightfulness of financial reporting and analysis. This position requires an individual with a strong accounting or finance background who takes initiative in driving financial processes forward. Workday experience is not mandatory, as training will be provided.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee financial systems for the Finance organization, including configuration and maintenance of financial modules, updates to foundational data structures, and related business processes.
  • Streamline monthly close processes and external reporting by developing and managing financial allocations.
  • Work closely with the financial planning & analysis team to enhance financial reporting capabilities for both standard and ad hoc internal reports.
  • Partner with actuarial reserving to develop automated solutions for accurate, timely reserve recording at regular intervals throughout the year.
  • Coordinate with IT and HRIS analysts to implement best practices and manage system changes within shared environments.
  • Conduct comprehensive reviews of bi-annual system release features, perform regression testing, and drive process improvements for financial scenarios.
  • Stay current with new financial systems functionalities to recommend process enhancements that improve operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate across teams and with external vendors to investigate data discrepancies, ensure data integrity, and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Participate in the development and testing of insurance policy administration and financial system solutions, ensuring quality and accuracy.
  • Assist external auditors in completing financial statement audits by providing requested data and documentation.

Skills

  • Bachelor s degree or higher in accounting, finance, or related field; equivalent experience also considered.
  • 5+ years of experience in accounting, financial reporting, or financial systems management, ideally within the property & casualty insurance industry.
  • Background in accounting or financial reporting, with experience administering financial modules.
  • Familiarity with Adaptive Insights, Blackline, and Kainos Smart Testing is preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Highly motivated, able to manage multiple projects effectively; familiarity with Azure DevOps or similar project management tools is a plus.

Compensation

  • Base salary range: $81,000 - $109,600. Individual compensation varies based on factors like location, skill set, experience, and education.

Candidate must successfully pass a Background Check, with the start date contingent on client approval.
