What You Will Do

PSS-1 is seeking an energetic and customer-focused Software Developer (SD). The newly formed Software Systems Development team is responsible for the development and maintenance of ALDWP's red and yellow web applications. The SD will support various databases and applications to include customized development and upkeep (e.g. system access/permissions, quick fixes, workflow creation/maintenance, etc.) across the organization. This work will be performed in a fast-paced environment with the potential for growth in the areas of providing tailored solutions in direct support of specific programmatic needs and mission milestones. Furthermore, be an active participant in a Scrum Development Team developing multiple web applications in an Agile environment.

Working on a team, the successful candidate will perform the full spectrum of database, a pplication and website development, including but not limited to the following:

Software Developer 3 ($101,700 - $168,200)
  • Website development for the yellow and red networks.
  • Designs, develops, modifies, tests, debugs and evaluates software to meet functional requirements for functional areas.
  • Database development and administration.
  • Mentor junior developers through paired programming.
  • Review Microsoft monthly security update releases to insure compatibility with current website environments.

What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
  • Demonstrated experience as a back-end developer using .Net Core C# using razor pages and/or a front-end developer using HTML5, XML, CSS3, JavaScript and jQuery.
  • Demonstrated experience with MS Excel/ MS Access VBA development
  • Demonstrated experience in a SQL Server environment writing SQL Queries and Microsoft IIS and authentication methods.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication (verbal and written) skills.
  • Experience working in a Scrum Development Team environment.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated experience in the design and development of mobile applications.
  • Experience developing and providing software user training to end users.
  • Skilled in design software such (e.g., Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign.)
  • Experience with on premise Azure DevOPS.
  • Scrum Master (CSM) Certification.
  • Experience in CI/CD automated test environments.

Education/Experience:

Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field and 8 years related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. At this level, post graduate course work may be desirable.

Work Location: The work location for this position is hybrid and is located in Los Alamos, NM. Hybrid is defined as working partially onsite/partially offsite but within 2 hours ground commute of this location. All work locations are at the discretion of management and can change at any time with appropriate notice.

Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 2 years.

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. *Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.

Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
