The Performance Solutions team is seeking a Performance Engineer for Gas Turbine (GT) and Combined Cycle (CC) power plants. This is a critical pillar within the Heavy Duty Plant Engineering organization and manages the life cycle performance of the aftermarket (services) customers.
This is a Global function, and the engineer will have an opportunity to work with team members who are executing for our customers at 13 different global locations across 9 time zones !!
As a Performance Solutions Lead Engineer you will be responsible to provide thermal and operational performance modeling and analysis in support of architecting GT/CC performance risk and guarantees on aftermarket upgrades and Energy transition Carbon capture studies working closely with Application engineering and commercial teams. You will develop control strategies with Requisition and Controls engineering as part of execution and partner with Customer engineering in support of all field performance customer issues in Gas Turbine and Combined Cycle plants. You will use fleet data, tools, and methods to drive engineering and business decisions. Furthermore, you will deliver thermal performance monitoring software solutions.
Job Description
This Performance Solutions team manages the lifecycle performance of the installed base from ITO-OTR-ER (cradle to grave). This team is under the Performance COE vertical within the Heavy Duty Plant Engineering (HDPE) organization.
The Engineer will have an opportunity to leverage Gas Turbine and Combined Cycle Plant models to run simulations and conduct Thermal Performance analysis to understand component level and overall performance and also develop system level thinking working with other cross functional engineering teams viz. Applications Engineering, Design, Controls, Combustion and specific Gas Turbine, Steam turbine, HRSG engineering groups. The job will provide tangible connect to the commercial world on how this work is directly connected to customer outcomes and revenues. There will be opportunity to conduct numerous problem-solving exercises to help our customers via fleet data and leveraging lean tools.

For U.S. based candidates only, for purposes of complying with U.S. pay transparency requirements, the base pay range for this position is $98,400 - $164,000 USD Annual
The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. This Lead Professional Band position is also eligible for a variable incentive bonus of 10%.
*The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.

Essential Responsibilities
- Lead performance evaluations for Gas plants which includes Gas Turbine, Steam Turbine and overall Combined Cycle with a system level thinking and broad sphere of influence with cross functional teams to define associated performance risk levels.
- Develop & implement use of thermal performance methods & tools and performance models to generate performance and/or emissions information and/or guarantees for upgrade proposals.
- Leverage fleet data to lead root cause analysis (RCAs) and diagnostic efforts as needed to ensure effective and accurate customer issue resolution.
- Focus on aftermarket HDGT/CC wing to wing value chain and fleet performance management to unlock performance value for both GE and its customers.
- Coordinate with customers, Product Line, Sales, and Engineering to ensure proposed solutions are compatible with the customer needs, GE design standards and established quoting limits.
- Execution of assigned OTR activities for requisitions for Controls curves and Combined Cycle correction curves as well as coordination with Performance testing team of overall performance risk and guarantee points.
- Develop thermal performance monitoring software solutions
- Proactively provide inputs for risk evaluation & mitigation plan on critical/complex projects
- Promote quality defect management & risk remediation/mitigation; Eliminate non-value add processes
- Share best design practices, lessons learnt within & among cross functional teams to have the best results delivered for internal & external customers.
- Develop, support, and lead LEAN initiatives
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical, Aeronautical, Chemical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- Minimum of 5 to 7 years' experience in gas turbine and combined cycle related engineering
