The Medtronic Diabetes Operating Unit is on a mission to deliver the power of our Automated Insulin Delivery (AID) algorithm and its proven benefits and to give people with Diabetes a choice in the treatment approach that is right for them. To that end we are looking for a Prin Software Test Engineer to be a part of this dynamic and high-impact team.
As a Software Test Engineer, your primary role would be to design and develop automated test cases interfacing with an insulin pump and other peripheral devices. As part of this role, you will also participate in technical discussions and problem solving for software projects and collaborate with the developers and test architects on the impacts of design decisions.
The best candidates will be Software / Firmware / Embedded Test Engineers with education and/or experience in these areas. Strong relationship skills are a must, as is excellent verbal and written communication.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$116,800.00 - $175,200.00
This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).
The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
- Work on initiatives to drive continuously improvements in test processes and procedures.
- Define, design, develop, verify, and validate test automation and simulation frameworks.
- Compiles data and defines needs or changes required in testing equipment.
- Read, analyze, understand requirements and provide feedback to members of the requirements, development, and test team.
- Participate and contribute to product code and design reviews.
- Develop and implement a robust test strategies for testing of the product at functional and integration levels to provide early and continuous feedback of product quality.
- Utilize end user and product usage scenarios for reference while developing software test procedures.
- Develop software test procedures using scripting languages like Python, JavaScript, etc.
- Execute software test procedures and interpret/analyze results to report and communicate software defects.
- Review software test procedures
- Coordinate technical discussions and problem solving for software projects and collaborate with cross functional teams.
- Coach other engineers on best practices and new technologies
- Key interface between the software test team and other cross functional teams.
- Work with developers to resolve software defects and diagnose/improve product configuration for current and future models.
- Ability to work independently under general supervision.
- Define KPIs and metrics to track team and project performance
- Follows internal standard procedures (SOP/DOP) related to software development and test processes.
- Applies knowledge of software SDLC, V&V methods for safety critical, and embedded software engineering and formal qualification process.
- Applies understanding of test tools to execute assigned tests
- Provide leadership/onboarding to Engineers across multiple sites, consisting of employees and contract personnel.
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related Engineering or Sciences field and 7+ years of embedded software test experience.
- Or, 5+ years of experience with a Master's degree
