Medtronic Diabetes is looking for an Electrical Engineer to help develop analog and digital electronic for battery-operated microcontroller based medical devices. The Electrical Engineer will work on both product and tester electronics in both laboratory and manufacturing test environments.

Areas of responsibilities will include research, circuit design, design review, laboratory testing, and cross-functional reviews. Candidates must be able to write detailed electrical specifications, test procedures/reports and generate/review design documentation in compliance with design control procedures used within the medical device industry. Candidates must also be willing to work in a fast paced, multi-tasking, team environment.

Duties:
  • Support development and test of wireless, analog, digital and/or RF circuits in commercialized medical devices and automated test systems
  • Work under the guidance of a Principal level engineer, Project Engineer and/or Engineering Manager
  • Evaluate and select components, create component specifications and write both functional and test specifications
  • Research and implement state of the art technologies to enhance product features, improve reliability and device size (electronics miniaturization), optimize manufacturing throughput and lower cost
  • Support the development of ultra-low power mixed signal Integrated Circuits to be used in medical devices
  • Implement Design for Reliability and Manufacturability (DRM) principles within the functional area
  • Support Manufacturing in troubleshooting operations involving medical devices through assembly and test
  • Provide technical assistance to other functional departments such as Product Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, Quality, Reliability and Manufacturing
  • Participate in engineering design reviews

Must Have: Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelors degree required
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with 0 years of experience

Nice to Have
  • Experience in digital and analog circuit design
  • Proficient in programming in C, C++ and/or Python for embedded and/or test applications
  • Familiar with wireless communication protocols (Bluetooth, BLE, WiFi, etc)
  • Knowledge of formal PCBA documentation (schematics, PCB fabrication drawings, PCB assembly drawings)
  • Experience with basic laboratory instruments and tools (e.g. DMM, oscilloscope, data acquisition and control, logic analyzer)
  • Ability to work in a team environment; strong collaboration skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Experience with schematic design and layout using CAD tools for PCB design such as OrCAD, Cadence Allegro and/or Altium Designer
  • Experience with the following: embedded microcontroller/microprocessor systems, medical device design and/or ultra-low power battery operated systems
  • Experience working with vendors and contract manufacturers for PCB fabrication and assembly

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$82,400.00 - $123,600.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
