Job Description:
Apex is hiring a Senior Research Engineer to work on site in Redmond.
This is a 12 month contract with potential to extend 2 years.
Pay: $100-$125/hr W2
Ideal candidates will be excellent C++ Programmers with Python and Unity experience as nice to haves. They will build, maintain, and extend a toolkit of reusable components that will support user studies and prototype AR/VR experiences for free-hand gesture interactions.
Software Engineer V / Research Engineer
At Reality Labs Research, our goal is to explore, innovate and design novel user interfaces for the next generation of virtual, augmented, and mixed reality experiences. Our team is evaluating novel interaction techniques and user interfaces to improve human experiences in the augmented world. We are seeking a candidate for a research engineer able to work at the intersection between human-computer interactions and artificial intelligence.
Job Responsibilities:

• Build and maintain software to support research projects that advance the teams research roadmap.
• Design, build, and test a wide range of software systems (e.g., building research systems, backend development, data analysis, interfacing with machine learning and deep learning models, computer vision, signal processing).
• Collaborate with other researchers and engineers in the various phases of the research project (i.e., ideation, experimental design, data analysis and result sharing).

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelors or Masters degree in computer science or related field.
• 3+ years of professional experience with Python, developing reliable and maintainable software systems.
• 3+ years of professional experience utilizing general software engineering skills, including debugging, version control, logging, documentation, code review, etc.
• Proficiency in at least one other programming language, such as C++ or C#
• Professional experience working with Computer Vision or other Machine Learning models (e.g., running models, interpreting outputs, integrating them into systems or prototypes, etc.)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including cross-group collaboration and cross-culture collaboration.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Unity and C#.
• Experience with augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR).
• Experience with React/React Native.
• Experience working with sensors, wearable devices, input device signals/data.
