About the Opportunity:
Location: University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, IA Contract Duration: 6 months, with potential for another 6-month extensions. **ONSITE ONLY**
The University of Iowa Health Care s Project Management Office (PMO) is seeking two experienced Senior Project Managers to support vital IT initiatives. Working onsite at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, you'll lead the deployment of a new Radiology Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACs) and oversee additional Radiology and Pathology projects. This role requires local or regional candidates due to the onsite nature of the position.
Project Scope and Responsibilities:
As a Senior Project Manager, you ll ensure that all projects are completed on time, within budget, and in alignment with the University of Iowa Health Care s strategic goals. Responsibilities include:
- Project Planning and Execution: Define project scope, timelines, and budgets, and manage project lifecycle from planning to delivery.
- Stakeholder Management: Engage with a wide array of stakeholders including departmental leads, hospital administration, and medical staff.
- Team and Resource Management: Build and oversee project teams, ensuring resource alignment and team productivity.
- Risk and Issue Management: Identify potential risks, implement mitigation strategies, and escalate concerns as needed.
- Vendor Management: Coordinate with vendors for system implementation and support.
- Status Reporting: Provide regular updates to project sponsors and stakeholders.
Key Project Deliverables:
- Successful implementation of the Radiology PACs system.
- Full migration and integration of legacy data.
- Seamless alignment with the Epic platform.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Experience: 10+ years in project management, ideally within healthcare IT.
- Certification: PMP or equivalent certification (e.g., Prince2, Lean, Agile, ITIL).
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced skills in MS Office Suite, SharePoint, MS Teams, PowerPoint, Zoom, and project management tools.
- Methodology: Proficiency in Waterfall project management; PMBOK knowledge is highly desirable.
- Soft Skills: Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills, with a strong focus on customer service.
Desired Qualifications:
- Strong process improvement capabilities, including KPI development and workflow mapping.
- Proven ability to manage multiple large-scale projects and lead process improvements.
- Demonstrated capacity to act as a change agent, inspiring a collaborative team environment.
