The Senior Director within the Responsible Investing team will help drive Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Integration efforts with a focus on Fixed Income. The position provides an opportunity to work in a high profile, dynamic and creative environment in an institution with a long history of responsible investing.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

ESG Integration

  • Provide strategic direction for ESG integration across public markets with a focus on fixed income, including taxable and municipal fixed income
  • Collaborate with investment teams to support Nuveen's commercial opportunities thorough the design of credible ESG integration processes, and deliver evidence of the depth of Nuveen's ESG integration to the market
  • Deliver unique insights and key ESG themes for use by investment teams and other stakeholders
  • Partner with investment teams to create and enhance existing proprietary ESG rating frameworks and quantitative scoring models
  • Represent Nuveen in ESG conferences, working groups, and select industry organizations to raise the firm's profile and shape market standards for responsible investing
  • Partner closely with the Stewardship team to connect ESG integration and engagement activities

ESG Commercialization

  • Provide RI expertise in the sales cycle for RI products, including participation in institutional client and consultant meetings.
  • Proactively monitor and provide views on emerging issues in the responsible investing field to enable Nuveen's continued innovation in the market.

Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5+ years of responsible investing experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 7+ years of responsible investing experience focused on ESG industry trends and emerging topics at an asset manager
  • Deep knowledge and experience voicing views on relevant ESG issues
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to build relationships with multiple partner teams, especially with investment analysts and portfolio managers
  • Proven track record of personally executing complex projects in a large organization
  • Experience in fixed income within the asset management industry, either in a dedicated responsible investing role or in investment management
  • Ability to tackle problems with creativity and find solutions that satisfy multiple stakeholders

Base Pay Range: $168,800/yr. - $280,000/yr.

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
